The US Adult National Championships start TOMORROW in Bensenville, Illinois :cheer2:

I'm looking forward to competing myself on Friday afternoon. I'm 8 months out of having a baby and only train a mere 2 hours a week, so I consider myself fortunate that there are only two of us in my group so I'm guaranteed a silver medal. But my goal for this year was to just get back in shape after baby #2. I'm not all the way there yet, and have a few pounds still to go, but I can make it through my program with an axel and three level2 spins, as well as five other singles. Next year I hope to get my double jumps back in. :)

But I'm also looking forward to meeting this guy (http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/for-a-dc-hairdresser-a-love-of-figure-skating-becomes-a-dream-fulfilled/2012/04/10/gIQAZ8vD9S_story.html?hpid=z5), who is the newest member of our crazy adult skating ranks. He also happens to be the hairdresser of one of my best friends from college! It's his first Adult Nationals.

Anyone else here competing? Or just coming to watch?

BTW, If you plan on throwing tossies to me, I like vodka. :P

So proud of you Manleywoman-and also the hairdresser who follows his dreams! That must be so much fun. I've also always wanted to skate, and I bet I would've been better at skating than ballet. I have some excellent butt and thigh muscles! But alas-not too much rink time to be found where I live!

Very best wishes! Keep us updated!

Have a good time, manleywoman, and I hope you meet your goals! I won't be there, I don't compete any more (I'm actually not even skating at the moment), but there's nothing like AN.

Great story ... just proves that it's never too late to follow your dreams!

Best of luck at Adult Nationals! I just got back from Canadian Adult Nationals in Charlottetown. It's one of my favourite competitions to attend each year.

LOVE the story. Wish I could be there, but y'all are in my thoughts this week!! Don't forget to look for teena, aka the author of Skating on Air (she'll be there signing books)! (Actually, you probably already know her--both of you being skater types in the same area.)

Good luck, manleywoman! Skate great and have fun!

I'll also give a shout-out to my clubmates and all the DC area and UD skaters, and all the others I know who are competing. I won't be there but looking forward to watching programs on IN.
