That is a terrible name. USFS should be trying to make skating appear more edgy and not doing exactly the opposite. :P

I didn't check for typos so let me know if you see anything glaring. I don't know why this schedule is not more widely available. No word yet on who is skating in the challenge cup.

For those coming - Saturday is a BIG football game. I strongly suggest if you are driving to come early and get a parking space. The whole area will be a zoo by early afternoon.

After the roster is finalized on the ISU website, we will have open a prediction contest for the big 3 "Senior B" fall competitions (US Classic, Nebelhorn, and Finlandia).

Look for more details in the Kiss-N-Cry section as we get closer to the event.

The event starts next week. How much closer can we get?

I didnt realize there are juniors and novice competing? If so, why didnt US enter some novice and jrs?

I don't think this link has been posted - it explains the developmental competition for invited U.S. junior and novice skaters/teams: http://skatingmagazineblog.com/2012/08/15/2012-challenge-skate-q-and-a-with-kelly-vogtner/

I will post more information later.

Thx, Sylvia. Now I am curious who will compete as jrs here, and whether that part will be streamed

We will open the contest on Thursday in the Kiss-n-Cry section, one week before the competition begins, just like we do with the GP event contests. :)

Also, I have the entries from the USFS website, but there is no official entry list on the ISU website at this time. It would be nice to have a more definitive roster before we open the contest. (Hint, hint, USFS! :P )

I don't see junior dance listed on the schedule above. is that an error, or is there no junior dance event?

There is no junior dance event.

I just checked the flyer again and it doesn't list a junior dance session. I'm guessing no jr. dance at this event. Seems unusual when there is a novice dance event.

Maybe there are few enough junior dancers that all those who would qualify for this event are already assigned to JGPs, so there's no one to invite? Or if there were two or three who aren't age eligible for JGP, they don't add up to enough to hold an event?

I think based on the criteria, between 4 and 6 teams would have been eligible for invitations to a junior dance event. In the past few years, the travel expenses for the "developmental internationals" have been paid for by the athletes themselves. That may be part of the reason why some were unable to attend.

These were the junior dance teams from last years Nationals who are not on the ISP list (I'm not sure they're still together):
Roxette Howe / Mark Janhke J10
Jenna Dzierzanowski / Vinny Dispenza J13

These teams were novice last year and competed in juniors at Lake Placid this summer (unclear in the press release if they were required to have already passed their junior tests):
Hannah Rosinski / Jacob Jaffe N3
Chloe Rose-Lewis / Logan Bye N4
Stacey Siddon / Jared Weiss N5

Returning junior dance national competitor with a new partner:
Julia Biechler / Damian Dodge

Knowing some of you can't wait.... Prediction Contest (http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3675514&postcount=1) is now posted in the Kiss-n-Cry section.

Good luck! :cheer:

P.S. You will need your season subscription for the Kiss-n-Cry area, so now's a good time to get it! :D

The Novice and Junior events will be digitally recorded and posted on IceNetwork for Subscribers On Demand viewing.

BTW... there are no international Novice and Junior entrants to the Challenge Skate events, only U.S. novice and junior skaters who received invites and chose to accept their invitations on a first come, first served basis. The Challenge Skate events are organized under the USFS developmental program to give these young skaters a taste of attending an international event. It will serve as kind of a mini champs camp for them.
