I thought Skylar was incredible.

I'm gonna vote for Elise, Deandre and Skylar. They need the votes.

Hollie may be going home. Jessica has a great voice but she was way too safe.

Same bottom three for me. Deandre, Colton and Elise. I don't know who should go home first. If it's up to me it should be Colton, he's been boring me lately.

I didn't think Hollie was that bad. She must be this week's dumpee.

They've been trying to dump her for several weeks now, being much harder than her than on singers who are comparable or worse. Maybe they think she takes votes away from Jessica?

I cannot explain it, but something about both Jessica's singing and the way she sings bugs the snot out of me. Her facial and mouth contortions are unattractive - to be fair, PhilSquared looks like he's suffering from IBS half the time, but the rest of the time he tends to look like a young Steve McQueen, which earns a bit of a pass from me :o :slinkaway (well, that, plus the fact that I actually enjoy most of his performances, tonight notwithstanding).

Aarrgh!! Why can't they cut the show to 1hr when they get to the top ten, instead of filling the rest of the time with fillers? Same with the results show, cut it down to half hour like it used to without dragging it out.

My faves were Jess, Josh, Jess/Josh and Elise/phillip.

Why do the judges hate Hollie?

Her middle name is Haley. :)

I didn't hear one performance that I thought was good. Phil is one of my favs but he sucked tonight. He was off-key the whole song. Everyone either picked boring songs or sang badly or both. Skylar may have sung well, I don't know because I couldn't take that song & FF'd thru most of her performance.

My bottom 3:
Deandre - have you noticed: when he goes into his falsetto he rolls his eyes back into his head which makes him look deranged
Joshua - his vocal gymnastics are ridiculous
Phillip - flat or off-key throughout

I didn't think any of the girls were as bad as those 3. But I'm sure one will go home anyway.

I know that the 80s were not the best decade for music, but there are much better songs than the ones we heard tonight. I’m guessing that Idol didn’t clear them.

On the whole, I thought the duets were better than the solos. I didn’t like Phillip’s or Elise’s solos, but I liked their duet more than anything else tonight. I don’t know why Gwen thought that was a good song for Elise’s solo. I also didn’t think Phillip chose a good song for his solo. He didn’t look comfortable.

DeAndre – DeAndre is not my cup of tea, but I do think this was one of his best performances.

I want to like Josh, but I just don’t. Stop the screaming.

Jessica’s style is not my thing and I generally don’t like teenyboppers on the show, but I can’t deny that she’s mega-talented.

For Colton, I didn’t like that arrangement of the song, whoever is responsible for it, and really didn’t like the lighting and staging. I prefer that song as a much more sincere and tender song. I loved it when Cyndi Lauper did it with Allison Iraheta.

Skylar’s nasally voice does nothing for me, and I so didn’t get the standing ovation. They must have been upset that she was in the bottom three last week and wanted to make sure that Hollie is the one to go this week. Bummer for Hollie.

My favorite performances are those where the singers choose/sing lyrics they know and can relate to - like last week's. This week the only performances I enjoyed at all were the duets, and I liked them all.

This is my thought exactly. I'm sure they have focus groups, etc. who are telling them this and they're running with it, because they want Jessica in the top two no matter what it takes.

Personally I just don't get the Jessica love at all. I thought that in her solo tonight she was sharp a lot of the time, and Gwen Stefani was totally right, her performance style screams CHEESY. When the lyric said "phone" she put her hand to her ear? Puh-leeze.

Weird night, my least faves did very well and two that I expected to knock it out of the park didn't. I see Elise, Hollie and Phil/Joshua in the B3, the guy first save, and Hollie going with no save.

What exactly is the point of these duets?

I like the duets. And I think it shows their flexibility and ability to harmonize.

My favorite Pointer Sisters song is Automatic.

I loved Steam Heat. I remember being in college, when that song was popular. My roommate and I would dance around the room singing it at the top of our lungs . We were soooooo awful!

I don't get the DeAndre love. He's cute and has a nice voice, but no where near what the judges want us to think.

I thought Jessica did a really good job with I Want to Know. I also over the duet with Joshua.

I wish Joshua would reign in the vocal acrobatics. He has a great voice, but he ruins it when he goes over the top.

Skylar - I thought this was her best. But, I was  when they showed the clip where she said she misses her gun. Why would they put that in? that could alienate a lot of people.

Philip was blech last night. I fear he is a one trick pony.

Elise blew it. I think she sounded even more off because she was so amazing last week.

I thought Holly was much better than the judges treated her. I didn't think she was so pitchy.

I loved Colton's Time After Time. When I heard he was singing a Cindi Lauper song I was . But, he nailed it.

She can be a bit cheesy, but we have to remember she's 16. 16 with a voice that is amazing. The performance style will evolve. She is not my taste in music. But, she (as another poster said) is mega-talented. I think she has enormous potential and is young enough to be molded into a star.

This. Who's going to make more money for Jimmy? Jessica is a multicultural triple threat.

This. She's a hell of a lot more comfortable on stage than Carrie Underwood ever was on AI....and look what happened to her!

Sorry -- I'm on board with the judges on being underwhemed with Holly. When she sings, I can see her stepping outside of her body to listen and and watch and comment (to herself). That will ruin her. She's too careful to move herself -- much less the listener. Sure she sounds okay...but so what? The advice J Lo gave her last night shocked me in its profundity -- but perhaps that is because, as an artist, I share most of Holly's issues.

That said -- I will freely admit that I said a lot of the same things about AI Carrie Underwood...and look what happened to her....
