While not a bad idea, it's an ill timed event and although Scott said it I bet 95% of the skaters agree.

95% of skaters who were there or weren't? Because all the other countries looked like they were clearly really enjoying themselves and they all had similar schedules to Tessa & Scott. :P

being pc is overrated...given the option of being stranded on an island with someone who is always pc and someone like Scott, i'd pick the latter any day:lol:

I think that might be for other reasons too...:shuffle:

I may be in the minority here, but I actually don't think this is a cheezefest...I have to admit, I wasn't sold on the concept at first, but seeing some amazing performances this week has changed my mind. I think it is a real competition, and I am thrilled that C&L and D&W were able to lay down their best performances of the season here. Skates like that are always special, no matter where or when they happen, and I do want to acknowledge those accomplishments with a :cheer:

And congratulations to V&M and all the other teams!

It can't be taken seriously until you at least start by making the entries in each discipline even. It's weighted towards a country that is weak in dance/pairs but really strong in singles. That's a fact. Remove that imbalance first before you can even discuss whether this is a real competition.

That doesn't mean that people didn't put out great skates and the audience didn't enjoy it. But it's not a real competition.

It's not a cheesefest. It's an ISU event, like all other ISU events. It will also be an Olympic event.

Someone in the PBP said that they thought they heard Scott say, "I hate this part." I honestly can't hear it clearly enough to know what he said...just curious if others thought they heard this version of his comment?

From what I have read the Olympic Event will have the same amount of entries in each discipline so what does that tell you?

I don't know what Scott said (I'd really appreciate a video)
But I like having drama in figure skating. It is something that will bring popularity to the sport (like how all the bitchyness and rivalries bring popularity to Women's Tennis)

I don't think it matters what he said at this point or what he meant when he said it. You either take it for what it is and move along or you dwell on it because you want to take him down another peg.

It tells me that the Olympic committee takes the idea of a team event seriously, and doesn't believe it's just cheese. It also tells me that the other Federations are too cheap to throw an event like this, so they are content with having it structured in a way that favors Japan so long as the JSF foots the bill.

I think that the problem with this event is that it isn't at the same time as worlds. If they put them at the same time, people will associate the two better.

Russia pressured to have a team event at the Olympics. and being an Olympic event doesnt make it automatically something above the critics.
