I think they didnt, because i was sitting right there backs and didnt see nothing. This could be - maybe depend from angel of view.
I could only say - V-M first SS was like quad flip+3t. They flyght across the ice, they didnt take ice, they control there bodies, they hold close positions. It was :saint:

I agree! I am surprised we only saw two +3s in the GOEs for that element. It was gorgeous and really stood out from the rest, imo. perfection. I'm glad you were there to witness it:)

Okay. Ideally they never stop skating. They do three programs a year and explore everything. But, since that's not going to happen (indeed, I think once their competitive career is over, they will skate infrequently)......

If they skated to Sigur Ros, it should be something like "Inni mer Syngur Vitelysingur" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgaQC7B3GIE) (which would be shortened to Sigur Ros Medley). It's got a gorgeous rhythm, sections which would highlight their elegance without being too Mahleresque, and can you imagine how it would highlight their breathtaking unison and match (2:14 to 3:30, with it's rising incantation and chants would be astonishing for a footwork-twizzle-lift sequence)? I get chills thinking about it.

I love the blues/rock idea, of course. Actually, if they don't do something along those lines, I'll be disappointed.

Pani, I'm glad you were there to watch the competition live and I also envy you tremendously for being able to really enjoy the moment of the performance. It's something I'm never capable of. Whether I'm there in the arena or at home, I can never relax enough and focus on the beauty of their skating, instead of desperately wanting them to skate well. It's silly, I know, but I just can't help it. Therefore I'm a bundle of nerves during the actual performance, and I get to enjoy it later.:) That's why attending the practices in Nice was a joy: I just relaxed and took in the beauty.

Waching the performance, I felt they were a bit tense, but everything was there: the speed, the flow, and even if I didn't have a good enough view to see their edges, the diagonal step sequence looked beautiful. I hadn't even noticed Scott's bobble until he mentioned it at the press conference - true, I was sitting on one of the shorter sides of the rink and I could only see him from the back in that portion.
There are people who claim that Tessa and Scott don't have the same speed as they did before her shin problems, something which I completely disagree with. It's enough to watch them fly by in preparation for the last combination lift. Meryl and Charlie may be faster in some parts of their FD, but one thing which stands out when you have the whole rink perspective is that Tessa and Scott have better ice coverage. For that alone, plus their wonderful use of edges (the fact that they generate speed through a continuous flow, not by hopping around), I believe they should get the highest skating skills score.

I've enjoyed reading everyone's music ideas for the next season. I'd love to see them do something modern and, why not, "voidy-ish":), but I would also want them to pick a more powerful piece of music. I loved Funny Face, I'm glad they did it, and I'm glad they won with a sophisticated piece which isn't necessarily everyone's cup of tea. But, although I don't have a specific idea, I'd also love to see something that engages the audience more.

Yes, fly by in preparation for the last combination lif was amazing :swoon:
Guys, i saw D-W every year since 2008 CoR and why nobody notice, they didnt have this time speed they showed before. At 2010 WCh they look like short-track skaters, but this time they wish to show they improve enough to show more details. So i am not sure about V-M didnt have good speed compare D-W ;)

I cant understand, why people in this case feel OK with P-B bronze over W-P? W-P had better FD, they skated good :D But the overall quality of P-B like ice dancers are still higher - so i agree with overall results.
I only think Ralf-Hill could be higher, because they had standing ovations and there FD look very difficult and they got the rythm ;)

Even though it's a joke, I have to say that I love the way that Scott moves to the music here.

Thanks so much for posting this, marikat! I was waiting for video footage to surface. I love how friendly these teams are, and I thought it was really sweet that V&M and D&W would plan something that would help the Shibs feel more relaxed at their first GPF. People can say what they want about Scott, but doing something like this when it would be perfectly acceptable for you to just focus on yourself says a lot to me.

thanks! so nice to see Nathalie and Fabian announced as world medalists. and even better to see them receive so much support, not only from the crowd but from V&M and D&W. can't wait to see what all three of these teams will bring us in the next couple of years.

shsocu posted this in the D&W thread. The Brit Eurosport give some very brief thoughts on the competition and then there is a short interview with Tessa and Scott.

He calls V&M's performance of FF "out of this world," (even having seen that there was a stumble).

How could I not be happy??:) I suspected they've been making those plans, but it was great to have confirmation.
