He was a very talented performer.
Predating the Monkees, he was the "Artful Dodger" in "Oliver", on Broadway:

"I'd Do Anything" (1964)

and

Consider Yourself from Oliver - Davy Jones @ Epcot 2010

He had real "magic", which he never lost.

I will miss him.
Deepest sympathy to his family and friends,

I feel like a just lost a part of myself.... Davy and the Monkees were hugely important to me and my brother. We had all the albums, singles etc. and played them till the grooves wore out. I had the priviledge to seeing Davy, Peter and Micky perform twice in the 80's, that's something I'll never forget.

We've lost a cultural icon of the 60's, and it's a damn shame. RIP Davy, you will be sorely missed.

I always liked him best of the Monkees. Even if he was too short. :) RIP

RIP, Davey. :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

I saw the Monkees twice in 80's. It was always a fun concert. My sister and collected their records in the 60's, and always watched their TV show..

:( :( :( I loved the Monkees, Daydream Believer was the first single record I ever bought, and I got to see Davy Jones onstage in Grease. He was funny and charming.

RIP, Mr. Jones. You will be missed.

:(

One of my ex's best friends is a big Monkees fan. I remember sitting him down and showing him their movie, Head, which he had never seen before. That's still one of my favorite movies for when I just want to watch something and not have to think about what I'm watching.

Aw, RIP, Davy. :(

His widow is a flamenco dancer? Present-day?

Loved The Monkees. In the 70s and 80s when it would have syndication run, I'd :swoon: over Micky Dolenz (who now looks like the Mayor of Munchkinland). But, Davy's appeal gave the show the lightness and sweetness it needed to thrive.

Davey Jones guested on "The Brady Bunch". Marcia was president of his fan club.

Sad news though. I use to watch "The Monkees" all the time as a kid.

Actually, I knew the real president of his fan club. My mother rented the upstairs apartment in the house of her parents; they lived downstairs. Every day the mailman brought sacks, and I mean sacks, of mail from fans and Helen, the girl downstairs, was supposed to answer it all. She used to get frantic phone calls in the middle of the night from Davy Jones, because she was behind in answering all the mail.

RIP Mr. Jones.

So sad to hear. I was quite a bit behind my peers music-wise when the Monkees were at the top, but was quite aware of them because so many girls that I knew were crazy about them. I remember one of my classmates in the 7th grade traced Davy's likeness off one of her fan photos to put on the cover of her book report on "Little Men."
