Aww, I wish it was the seniors that had hip hop instead. I feel like the juniors got the better CDs to work with. Polka is just so annoying IMO I wonder if they have to strictly choose only polka music to work with.

I hope they're not limited to polka music, or my ears will be bleeding after watching an entire SD competition.

If we would have SD with paso doble, this is my choice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ua0cWyX5css&feature=player_embedded) :D

I think we must like the same things lol. I love the Vitamin String Quartet ever since I heard them on So You Think You Can Dance. But my favorites renditions they did of Coldplay are Yellow and The Scientist, I don't think I've listened to Clocks.

Yes, we sure seem to:) What do you think about T&S skating to their renditions of Coldplay's songs? I think they would skate "Yellow" and "The Scientist" beautifully.

I would love to see them work with melancholy more in their programs, especially after seeing their exquisite IWHYH. Imagine what they could do with a theme built around loss and longing.
I also think "The Water," by Feist would be a great piece for them.

and Emdee, you are so lucky! I hope I can attend Canadians this year, as Worlds tickets are too expensive for me.

Yea I know :(.

That's an interesting choice I wouldn't have thought of that music for a paso program, but my knowledge comes from watching Dancing With the Stars lol. Ricki Lake and Derek Hough did a program to music from Psycho (I don't know if it's a paso or tango program actually), but I think a skating program to that music would be interesting. I'm not sure for Tessa and Scott, but a skating program in general.

ETA: found the video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89HgK23-Q5Q) it was a tango lol.

Oh I think they would skate to those renditions beautifully too, but sadly that will never happen :(. But imagine if it did though, that would be so cool. Maybe somebody that reads this board and knows them can give them some of our suggestions lol. I'm gonna listen to The Water by Feist now cuz I don't think I've ever heard that too.

ETA: Yes I like The Water a lot. I think why I love these choices is cuz I think they have the potential to be real modern and different something I really want them to do. I like this music too, Kerry Muzzey's Bernini's Angels (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRf7EPHzrSU).

i would really like them to do a blues fd next year (cant say enough of it). g/g did a marvellously sensual pro pairs routine to the rolling stones' "out of tears". i think v/m can be awesome with it as well.

As far as I know, the rhythm is the main priority in ballroom dances. To be off (out of) the rhythm is dance sin :D . That's why sometimes we can't understand music choices in some directions and styles in dances.

Perfect illustration for me. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrdyvApWB90&feature=player_embedded) (wonderful dance, by the way, interesting choreography but they are not with music imho :))

Psycho Tango is very interesting, thank you for sharing :).

Love Benji, I remember him from SYTYCD. That piece had some very interesting holds and lifts. IMO they were with the music and although it is a strange choice for swing dancers, they nailed it. I wonder if some of the lifts/choreo could be incorporated into ice-dance.

I agree :) That's why I'm also telling about "strange choice" (and take it for example).

Yes, I think the same. Holds/lifts, choreo are very interesting and I think could be done on ice.

Farrucas was an homage to Anissina-Peizerat's OD?

nah, v/m's farrucas felt more like an homage to g/g's farrucas

I want to say you all did really great job!
I love Kerry Muzzey's Bernini's Angels./ It couldbe uplifting, unusuall and light.

Psycho Tango show to everyone how you could use overused theam amd music in different way with innovated choreo. :)

"Clocks" by Coldplay i think will suite T-S style.

Benji Schwimmer & Torri Smith: did really great job in using non-swing music for swing dance.
As for lifts and holdes... I am not sure, because they did a lot off hip moves. T-S talked about how its hard to translate on ice hip moves from latin dance. But they could try and thois music is very good for skating (its D-R LP music :D).
Thank you all for this links and ideas. :)

Agree with Zilam re farrucas.

But doing Paso Doble is definitely a thought . It can be very sensual and I think they should try something with the deeper and darker emotions.

it is actually a fortunate choice: it means no Polka at the Olympics
