Maybe we're just tired of having stick figures paraded in front of us -- and a little concerned about the women who are told they have to look like this in order for us to watch them. When I see, say, Hilarie Burton on White Collar disappearing every time she turns sideways, I can't help thinking that someone's got to say something.I'm just really not a fan of body snarking regardless of whether the person is over or underweight. And it bothers me that one is considered taboo while the other is perfectly okay.

J-Lo needs to put 'em away, it's not like no one has ever seen her cleavage before (yawn).

Well, I think she kept them hidden for the most part when she was with Marc Anthony. Rumor has it he didn't like her to parade them. I think she's feeling liberated.

I've only seen the previews for the Artist, but....the lead actress takes me right out of the mood. She is just too modern-looking for that movie. Female movie star faces were more rounded then, with wider eyes and smaller smiles. I see her grinning in the preview and it just looks wrong.

Oh don't let that bother you. She's wonderful in the film.

Oh, neither am I. But I think snarking and concern are two different things.

Christian Bale has been acting in movies since he was 13. :shuffle:
He didn't have it MADE at 13 though, that's the point.

We saw all we needed to see back in 2000, long before she was involved with Anthony.

I have to  at the collective FSU celebrating of how wonderful Octavia looks while insisting that Angelina is unhealthy looking. (Some exclaiming both in the same post!)

Some people look (or age) "skinny," yet are healthy ... Jolie may well be in this category. We need to reset as a society if nobody is questioning Spencer's health with the extra weight she is carrying. Yes, Octavia has looked nice this awards season and definitely knows how to dress and style herself. But she is also too heavy at this moment in time.

Octavia is not an easy woman to dress, not like Angelina anyway. And she managed to look good even with all the extra weight.

Angelina has looked better on many occasions in her life.

I don't think people are comparing the stars to each other, more likely to the stars other looks.

My all time favourite Glenn Close movie. Even all the viewings on both VHS and DVD, that scene when we see her react to Valmont's death gives me the chills every single time I watch it.

She was w/out a doubt robbed that year.
^^This.

I'm talking about the difficulty for the actor's work, not the difficulty of how the audience might respond. And I still believe it is more difficult for the actor to create a believable character from a work of fiction than it is to imitate a real person.

So you think it's more difficult for Viola Davis to play a maid that was made up in someone's imagination over a Meryl Streep playing a historical figure?

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

When someone doesn't exist it's not as hard to create the character as it is when someone needs to be portrayed from real life. Where if she gets it wrong, everyone knows it. Viola Davis had nothing to loose with her character portrayal.

That makes what Jennifer wore last night seem "modest" by comparison!

"My skirt is so big, I can carry my own portable toilet under it!" :yikes: I also immediately flashed to that scene of Maya Rudolph's unsuccessful escape across the street. :scream: I guess Angelina has a sense of "humor" or is just happily giving us/and the media what they want -- the honey badger taking a dump in front of everyone. Brad seems to be enjoying it -- and it looks as if someone may have lent him a comb. :P

Yes, it's a photoshop making fun of Angelina's infamous leg thrust.
