Savannah Marshall (GBR), Ren Cancan (CHN) and Katie Taylor(IRL) are the world boxing champions in olympic events. They also booked their tickets to the olympic games. GBR and Russia won three medals each in the olympic categories.

Overall china won 5 medals including 3 gold at the championship, whereas Russia won 9 medals (a gold, a silver and 7 bronze medals)

I've been catching up on "Countdown to London" recently. Just watched the May 16th episode with some really good interviews and updates.

- In depth interview with Brian Clay about his troubled childhood. He knew then it would be tough to make the US decathlon team - and he didn't. With a silver and a gold already, it's OK for me.

- Paul Sunderland on men's volleyball - the Russian starting line-up is taller than the Los Angeles Lakers starting line-up.

- Khatuna Lorig, archer, has competed for Unified Team, twice for Georgia (her native country) and is now on the US archery team. She was also the archery coach for "The Hunger Games".

She competed for the unified team and not Russia since Georgians were part of Unififed team.

There are also two athletes from the Netherland Antilles who will compete under the Olympic flag as their olympic committee is no longer recognised by the IOC.
