No longer have to wear bikinis. The federation is trying to allow for a more modest look for countries/cultures where this is an issue. I'd rather play in short/shirt too. Good change!

I am concerned by the amount of US gymnasts who are turning pro just before the start of the games.

London Olympics create an "online hub" (http://www.mobilesportsreport.com/2012/04/london-olympics-creates-online-social-hub-for-athletes-and-fans-to-mingle/) to aggregate twitter and facebook links for Olympic athletes. It also includes a handy search function where you can search for links by sport.

Here's a link to the hub itself (http://hub.olympic.org/)

I really liked the hub. It's user friendly. I would like to have a thread that is just for links to all the best information out there. It would need to be a sticky so would a moderator need to keep it up?

Here's the schedule for this week's trials -

27 Swimming U.S. women's open water trial (selection to seek direct qualification)
27-29 Wrestling Olympic qualifier (quota spots)

May

1 Judo Final ranking (direct qualification)
3 Badminton Final ranking (quota spots/direct qualification)
4-6 Rowing World Cup (direct qualification)
4-6 Wrestling Olympic qualifier (quota spots)
4-9 Sailing Women's match racing, U.S. trial (final U.S. qualification)
4-13 Boxing Men's qualifier for the Americas (direct qualification)

I watched and recorded the Wrestling event this week. It was fun. The wrestlers are so emotional: Almost as emotional as the weight lifters.

Canada goes for its first birth in Volleyball tonight in 20 years vs. the USA, they've played incredibly well all week beating PR twice, and upsetting Cuba. It's in incredibly tough ask but if they catch a few breaks and play as strong as they did against Cuba it's doable!

Ah crap, Never mind...

Australian shooter Russell Mark has vowed to wear a Borat-style mankini at the Opening Ceremony of the London Olympics after losing a bet on an Aussie Rules football game.

Complicating matters is that Mark is a potential flag bearer for the Australian team. He'll be competing in his sixth Olympics and that honor is usually given to athletes with longevity or special circumstances. Of course, in this case, Mark may have both.

I'm sure this will not happen.

Gah, Canada's Olympic Team is going to be seriously depleted compared to 2008. The only team to qualify thus far is women's soccer, the men's and womens water polo teams failed to qualify in their final matches, Volleyball men lost their final match, and now one of our top medal hopes has been all but eliminated in women's boxing. She needs to hope for an invitational berth next month when the AIBA and the IOC meet, I'm hoping her record will allow for that, but boy that's a tough way to get in.

Canada in the top 12 in the medal standings is  worthy... Quite frankly if we get between 12-15 medals I'll be happy and even that seems to be a lofty goal at this point.

As Kylet wrote earlier Women's boxing is making its olympic debut, of course this is part of equality for women drive. So, IOC has allowed 3 gold medal in boxing :o, now IOC needs to realise that the men's boxing at Olympics has 10 gold medal and women at AIBA world championships compete in 10 events as well. So equality would also mean equal number of gold medals especially when they are competing in these events at the worlds.

I hope this drive will also mean finally men's rhythmic gymnastics and men's synchronised swimming will also be included at the olympics :P... seriously Go (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQBfiYyP4Aw) Japan
