I'm interviewing Fances Dafoe this weekend. Anyone have any stories, information or questions they'd like to share?

Ask her about the scoring controversy of 1956, and the see-saw battles between Dafoe-Bowden and Schwarz-Oppelt!

I'm posting this great article for those unfamiliar with Frances:

I'd like to know more about the trials she and her partner went through to become judges, and as a former costumer (strictly a hobby), what got her into costuming and her thoughts on her costuming years, thanks!

^ great article! Thanks yazmeen!

This cracked me up though:
artistic to the core, Dafoe attended one of the best art schools in the world, Parsons School of Design in New York.
It's like "button then attended Harvard, one of the us's better colleges, ...." :P

Olympic athletes in her day trained around jobs, school, and family responsibilities. Today's elite skaters are essentially professionals, training 6-8 hours a day, earning money, and accepting sponsorships. Would she like skating today, or does she think it places to much pressure on athletes, especially children, to win? Some skaters seem lost when their competitive days are over, as if they never prepared to do anything else.

Does she have any anecdotes about competing outdoors? I'm always fascinated by skaters who can compete in wind, rain, extreme cold, and on melting ice.

Who does she think should run the ISU?

Here's a recent article on Dafoe that mentions her new "lavish coffee table book Figure Skating and the Arts: Eight Centuries of Sport and Inspiration: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120131&content_id=26529566&vkey=ice_news

I'd be interested to hear how she feels IJS has impacted pair skating today, for the good and/or bad, compared to what pairs was like when she competed with Bowden?

IIRC, she and Barbara Ann Scott are very close friends. I'd love to know a bit about their friendship and some of the "adventures" they shared over the years.
