My most favorite, and I still consider her the greatest because of the way she influenced ladies skating in the decades to come:

Midori Ito

I voted for Shizuka Arakawa. She was the first skater from Asia who won OGM. I think it worth a vote. Also for her beautiful flexibility, amazing jumping ability and her skating skill, its flow, speed, its huge full coverage of the ice. More amazing thing is she is 30 years old now and she still keeps these abilities and beauty, and getting more and more expressive and keeps improving every year as a pro skater. She produces her own show every year and makes it pretty successful and has a reputation as one of the best shows in Japan.

Objectively speaking, Yu-Na Kim, since she's the only one with an OGM except Arakawa, who was pretty inconsistent throughout her career.

My heart said to say Midori Ito though..

I voted for Yuna Kim. I'm surprised that Akiko is even an option. No offense intended to her fans. :)

Objectively speaking, if skating is just about the biggest amazing trick then it is the 3A jumps of Midori for the ladies.

Competition result wise, Yuna during junior years (2001-2006) has always managed 1st or 2nd for every competitions she has ever entered. Including qualifying for the 2 GPF she entered in 04-06. She won 1x Junior WC, 1x GPF during her junior years. She also came 1st in all her 05-06 season competition entered.

During her seniors years (2006 onwards), still never been off the podium and have always managed to win either a short program or a long program for every competition she has ever entered.

Out of the 19 major competitions in her senior career, she came
1st in 13 of them.
3rd 3 times during her early injury years and 2nd 3 times.
She was 3 times GPF champion, 1 x World champion, 1 x Olympics champion.
She managed to qualify for the finals for every GP series she has ever entered since her Junior years and won 4 out 6 of them, and the 2 she missed out, she came 2nd.

The biggest difference between appreciating the two great skaters is when I watch Midori I'd love to see all her biggest elements in a montage as an ultimate thrilling experience. With Yuna I'd easily want to see her programs in its entirety and her career is not just defined by one or two great performances, or programs or elements alone. Arguably, her 3:3s are also the best in the business.

Midori had to contend with figures and still placed fairly well overall after the SP/LP. Yuna-Kim would be my second choice followed by Mao Asada. :)

Midori would have won a lot more competitions, if not for the compulsory figures. Nobody came close to her in technical content when it came to SP and LP. She was definitely a trail blazer. She would have beaten more than half the men of her time.

I like Mao Asada a lot, and Yu na is very good, but neither was that far ahead of the field they competed against.

Kim and Ito were both very good, but I gave my vote to Kim since she won the Olympics Gold. I would choose Chen Lu for the most beautiful skater out of Asia.

God, no offense to the thread starter but when does this kind of meaningless and endless voting booths come to an end?

oh, I think I know the answer to that! NEVER!

If based on accomplishments like winning, then my vote is Yuna.

If based on influence then Ito.

If based on aesthetics then Chen Lu.
