Theme from Sabrina as performed by Itzhak Perlman-for Alissa Czisny

Hasn't Alissa already skated to Sabrina?

And Yuki Nishino has used Tchaikovsky's 1st Piano Concerto, and seeing as she seems to keep one program every year, she might have it again next year (she's had her SP two years in a row). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3_w0X7PVqM

I'd like to see "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Mussorgsky.

Why has no one skated to Edward Scissorhands? It's seriously voidy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04q2Ozr-WYA) but beautiful (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH2ecsg-nOc) and rich.

Peer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK6mzxQUQog&feature=related) Gynt (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swPqAXQQhLE) has fantastic skating music. I'm shocked it isn't a warhorse to be honest, it's classical, emotional, and "safe" and recognizable for those who are afraid of using music that's out of the box. I like it better than Grieg's Piano Concerto for sure. Solveig's Song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoZWyRRmNuE) is one of my favourite pieces of classical music ever, it's so incredibly soulful.

Chocolat has been used some but I'd love to see it more. It has bits that are fun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yr40-cmIstU&feature=related) as well as more serious (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oZOt2vE3z8).

My one crazy wish is that I want some uber-voidy ice dance team to tackle Bittersweet Symphony (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lyu1KKwC74).

I suggested Edward Scissorhands to Jason Browns coach at JGP Brisbane this year as I think he could do an amazing routine to it, and there is some gorgeous tracks in there.

My Pics:
Classical - Delibes Lakme
Broadway - On The 20th Century
Movies - Edward Scissorhands
Modern/Rock - Almost anything by E.S.Postumous (okay, stretching the category a bit)

I wish the next skater deciding to skate to Nessun Dorma would choose Jeff Beck's version - http://youtu.be/cGfDslwCYAc. Being 2:56 it's also perfect SP length, which is always a plus.

Also, there could be a Paul Simon program too. He has some instrumental pieces (Amulet - http://youtu.be/jfxdT1hPz5o - comes to my mind, but that's a bit short), and lot's of awesome instrumental parts and some solos in other songs, something could be cut out of those.

Classical:

Nixon in China (which, as theater, I don't even like; parts of it are skateable, however)

Broadway:

Passion

Movies:

Brazil (Inoue and Baldwin skated to it during the 2002-3 season, but I don't know of anyone else who has.)

Modern/Rock:

"Firecracker", by Yellow Magic Orchestra

YES!!! It's on my list, as well. There's many elite skaters I can see doing a great job with different portions of this. Adam Rippon, Mao Asada, Carolina Kostner, Jason Brown, Javier and all come to mind for starters. I'm surprised this music hasn't been used a lot in skating recently... my local classical station and Pandora station tend to pick it up from time to time. It's not that obscure.

Classical (relative, it's 1970s)-

1. Makrokosmos I (George Crumb).
Totally would be impressed if anyone can pull of an amazing performance out of the pieces in this work. I doubt we'll see it, but I've always wanted to see someone try. Erie, "dada" like, unpredictable, but the music sucks me in like no other. Here's one piece out of the several: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_kkTO33GcY. Jeremy Abbott perhaps?

2. Divertimento for Strings - Bartok
(I know, I'm cheating as you only said one -- but Crumb isn't too realistic.)
A more realistic choice, perhaps. Careful cutting is needed, as the music can be a bit busy. I imagine a Phillip Mills choreographing for Ashley Wagner could be fabulous. Or perhaps Carolina Kostner?

I think a lot of the skating world who is drawn to East of Eden need to consider "The Holiday" movie soundtrack (Hans Zimmer) instead. It's not overused, has the same emotional appear that East of Eden, and more variety through the score.

Modern/Rock -
Have we ever seen an elite (at least senior international) dance team ever do Smashing Pumpkins? Tonight, Tonight... Eye... Disarm all scream a free dance to me. I suppose I'm about 15 years too late on this thought, but the music it's self is so beautiful and engaging while the vocals keep it raw.

I've been wishing for years that someone, preferrably a singles skater, would skate to the first movement of Prokofiev's Second Piano Concerto: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDW88tFrv2w

I really think it would be perfect for Jeremy. I think he could express all the nuances well. Dai could probably do well with this too although he hasn't skated to classical in a while. For the ladies, I really think this would suit Carolina. Mao might do well with this piece as well.

Another great instrumental by Paul is "Anji" from S&G days. Also a bit short, though.

Great ideas!!!

For East of Eden, a team might look also at other Lee Holdridge soundtracks like Splash (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUDirZ6ykqg), The Beastmaster (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIWX3CTnV0g), El Gringo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6L4aLf8K3wg&feature=related), etc.

Smashing Pumpkins "Melancoly and Infintite Sadness" the first non-vocal track would work for a single or pairs team. I love Stand Inside Your Love but not sure if that would work for a dance team. I would like to see more Alt Rock used in dance programs and exhibitions like Stars, Lykke Li, Bon Iver, Snow Patrol, etc.

I would love to see a Van Morrison program by a dance team.

Return to Oz Soundtrack (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StorHwBff2A)
A Patch of Blue Soundtrack (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kwg2UnE4fsM)
As YOu Like It Soundtrack (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OdQ9wy3LVcU)
Black Stallion soundtrack (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTMHBnbUZWM)
Blade Runner Soundtrack (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_saUN4j7Gw&feature=fvwrel)
For Lovers Only Soundtrack (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/kubilayuner2)

I have been salivating for a program done to a number of pieces of Bear McCreary's amazing music from BSG, but Denney/Coughlin is the last team I would want to skate to it. I would love to see what someone like Daisuke Takahashi could do with it; S/S is the Pairs team I would pick to skate to music from the series (in particular, Baltar's Dream from Season 2.

I don't think anyone's ever skated to it, but I would love to see someone skate to Thomas Newman's Suite from Fried Green Tomatoes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gINPMWVHhpM&feature=BFa&list=WLB560776E8EA6A71C&lf=plpp_video). The piece is 14 minutes long and loaded with several gems that would make a great program for a Ladies skater (Czisny or Korpi come to mind).
