Well. That answers whether or not HE was involved in his wife's disappearance.

FigureSpins: I would think the social worker would be traumatized. I hope s/he is on paid leave and gets some therapy time. What a thing to witness, even setting aside the 'there but for the grace of God' aspect.

Absolutely! If the social worker WASN'T traumatized, I'd be concerned about his/her health. I just meant that it was reported by the agency that s/he was traumautized.

When I read the story, I immediately thought of the Zachary Bagby case in Canada. If you've never seen the documentary, Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father, this case is similar.

I hope Josh Powell rots in hell.

It's come up on my Netflix recommendations list a bunch of times, so after reading this thread earlier I decided to watch it.

Absolutely heartwrenching, and at times hard to watch. I definitely recommend it.

Josh Powell deserves whatever he gets in the afterlife, if there is such a thing. I can't imagine how anyone would want to kill their own children. It just boggles the mind.

And I, too, hope that social worker is on paid leave and being offered the help she undoubtedly needs. I don't think this was her fault at all.

So tragic. I know that he was never charged or convicted of a crime, but those kids should never have been in his care -- supervised visits or not.

if any access - it should have been supervised at a facility that follows the SVN guidelines.. thus ensuring the children could visit their father in a safe setting, with safety protocols and trained staff..

She is very fortunate to be alive, he was clearly determined to do this no matter what.

unfortunately most of the lethalities over the past couple of years of children in Supervised visitation situations have been when done in the community or in the home and not in a secure setting with trained staff.. seriously if the parent needs to be supervised it should be in a safe setting not in a home..:(

Awful. Just thinking about how he killed those two innocent children makes me sick to my stomach. And my heart goes out to Susan's grandparents, who lost not only their child but now their two grandchildren because of this monster. If there was even a shred of doubt that he killed her, it's gone now.

I hope the social worker gets the support and help she needs. What a terrible thing to go through.

To those sweet boys and their mother (who is surely gone) RIP together. To Dad: unless you had some mental illness you are one selfish, cruel Pr...nevermind. And many, many hugs and blessings to the grandparents and everyone who loved that family (dad included.)

this is on the news right now...apparently both boys had multiple hatchet wounds on their necks and torsos...but that the blows didn't kill them, carbon monoxide poisoning (from the fire) did. :fragile:

I did too. I have never cried so hard because of a film in my life, and I definitely recommend it to everyone. I came away from it devastated but so admiring of the grandparents, who have been through so much but remain so strong.

These kinds of acts leave me completely speechless. What he did is just unspeakably evil. I don't know what else can be said.

My immediate gut reaction was "he did this to get back at his in-laws and social services".
My second reaction was to hope they continue their child porn case against his father. Since his arrest, I've always wondered if he was connected in any way to Susan's disappearance.

Good Lord!!! Too bad he died because prisoners are parents too and he would have deserved everything they would have done to him. The Cox family must be in hell right now. My prayers go out to them.

Which means that they died in agony and pain.
