I don't think we can really know or predict what's going to happen in two years, especially with the so-called contenders all at such young ages now.

Gracie was a bit tentative but held herself together. Nice to see a US Lady hold up under pressure.

I am happy Gracie lived up to her hype
I think its safe to say she is guaranteed a podium at junior worlds

only 2nd international competition and doing well
not bad at all for Ms. Gold :respec:

Not sure if she's guaranteed a spot on the podium but if she lands her jumps she will be on it.

I like to see that Gracie is not expecting to medal at Jr Worlds, and just wants to skate well.

Good for her-

but, how can you have wobbly landings on two jumps and end up in second place for the Short at Jr. Worlds?

Her jumps weren't that wobbly. ;) (Gold received no negative GOE marks in her protocol and had 3 level 4 spins.)

Gracie landed slightly off-center and a bit forward on two jumps in the sp, but no wobbling that I could see. She saved those jumps under pressure and had a very solid outing. The jump landings weren't poor enough I suppose for negative GOE from the judges. Her spins were excellent and I think she showed lovely use of her arms. I look forward to seeing Gracie continue to improve her artistry and presentation. Otherwise, she's right up there with the best junior ladies in the world, obviously.

Ah, I see the source of the "wobbly" is Phil Hersh.

And YAY again! 2012 World Junior Silver Medalist! Right between two wonderbabies. Go Gracie!

ETA: all three on the podium landed jumps with all 6 takeoffs. Compared to some senior-level skaters, that's really impressive.

Huge congratulations to Gracie for her performance and handling the pressure so well, especially with such limited international experience.

I really hope she elects to move up to the senior GP next year. She's certainly ready to compete with the best.
