I would not send a dog I liked to Lori Nichol to style any more.

I pretty much agree, but then I look at Kostner's programs :swoon:

[QUOTE=Sylvia;3503112] She worked with choreographers Scott Brown and Pasquale Camerlengo this season.

I thought Oleg Epstein was her choreographer?

Oleg Epstein is listed as one of Gold's coaches in her USFS/IN bio: http://web.icenetwork.com/skaters/detail.jsp?id=101391&mode=I

However, Epstein is listed as one of her 3 choreographers in her ISU bio: http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00013680.htm

Re music selections, Gracie's team will likely come up with something that works well for her. Gracie reminds me somewhat of Cate Blanchett, so what about selections from the movie Elizabeth: The Golden Age:

The Opening and Destiny Theme tracks might be possibilities

Also Love Nest, the famous theme song (altho' oldfashioned and originating from vaudeville) for the George Burns & Gracie Allen Show, might work for a fun sp -- maybe if an updated recording of the song could be found.

ETA: I like the Harry Potter music idea too.

3 coaches and 3 choreographers!!

Must be extremely costly and hard to coordinate.

Not necessarily. From articles I've read, Toni Hickey is based in Springfield, IL (the Gold family's hometown), while Scott Brown is a coach/choreographer/technical specialist and is based in Denver, I believe.

I am a big fan of Gracie's and I have seen her skate throughout the years. I even competed against her (and MaryBeth Marley) back when she was in intermediate (they both beat me haha). I agree that she needs to work on her artistry, but the biggest thing that bothers me is her knee bend. She has none. Especially on her landings. I love her big jumps but her lack of knee bend on her landings make me cringe every time I watch her skate.

How can someone be the BIG fan of a skater who makes him cringe?

Well, the judges don't seem to mind Gracie's total lack of knee bend because she has just won the silver medal at Junior Worlds adding to a gold medal in the JGP series.:D

^^I'm a fan of a number of skaters who make/made me cringe :).

I think Gracie's lack of knee action is a minor thing but it is something that might make her skating a bit more aesthetically pleasing to watch. I think everyone can agree that she needs to work on her posture, line and presentation...knee bend works into those areas somewhere. Still, it's not detrimental to her skating.

As long as Gracie works on her PCS areas (CH, IN, PE) she'll be fine. In the jumps category she's ahead of most but in PCS she's behind her top competitors (Gracie had the lowest PCS of the three medalists) and I'm sure her coaches will address that next year. I do think next year is kinda crucial for Gracie, in terms of her senior debut (assuming she jumps to seniors...I think people may have an apoplectic fit if she doesn't!). Packaging is essential: music, choreography, costume, appearance, etc. I seriously doubt if she can do a Michelle Kwan-ish artistic turnaround in a summer but it'd be nice to see her show some growth. Her programs this season are 100% junior; next season, she's gotta step it up. It'll be exciting to see what they come up with!

I don't understand this thinking...

Why would there be any reason for her to stay at the Junior level???

& makes you worry about injury down the road if she's not cushioning those landings.......

Proves my point... ;)

Given her age and technical skill set, there's no reason for her not to go. But given her shortcomings in areas of her skating that need to be polished and lack of experience she could realistically take a full run at the JGP next year. She had one JGP event and went to jr. worlds this year. Yes her results at both were good, but she's still inexperienced...of course she could gain that experience at the senior level, but it's a much different ball game when you put her up against the established senior ladies who have multiple titles and years of reputation backing them.

Personally, I think she'll go to seniors...but I can't recall her saying definitively that she will be.

Gracie has nothing to gain staying a Junior next year. The worst thing would be to go the Senior level in the 2013-2014 season which is the Olympic year. At least if she struggles next season she will get the experience that she needs plus she can come back strong in the Olympic year. Just look at Mirai she had a horrible 2009 season but came back strong and made the Olympic team.

Just her landings and overall lack of knee bend make me cringe. Every time I watch her skate, I'm thinking the whole time "BEND YOU KNEES!!" I coach skating at a lower level (ISI) and I hate seeing no knee bend. She needs a dance coach or something to help her with posture, knee bend, etc. I love everything else about Gracie, therefore big fan :)
