The best thing also is Gracie is most likley done with her growth spurts while someone like Julia Lip has some growing in her future which might cause her trouble as we've seen from most ladies skaters at on point in their career.

Well, we'll just have to see on that one. There'll definitely be an adjustment period; it remains to be seen if she will make it.

But congrats to Gold on Silver! (wait, that didn't sound quite right... :D )

I kind of relieved she didn't win, and very glad she skated well.

Gracie already had that big growth spurt issue; unlike a lot of the skaters we see who get hyped when they're super-little juniors, she already basically sat out a season after a not-so-great domestic 2010-2011. Which, IIRC, was due to growing 6 inches?

Gracie looks very tall in this picture. https://twitter.com/#!/search/gracie%20gold/slideshow/photos?url=http%3A%2F%2Ftwitpic.com%2F8rlkum
If Sotnikova is actually 5'4" as listed, Gracie is probably around 5'6" or 5'7", around Agnes Zawadzki's size. So, yes, I'd believe she grew around 6 inches since she was 4th in novice (she looked pretty tiny then). Nice to see such tall, strong girls jump so well!

With her silver medal at Jr. Worlds, Gracie earned 450 ISU ranking points and is now ranked at #65 in the world. That will change a bit after Sr. Worlds, and after the ISU deletes the points from the 2009/2010 season.

I hope Gracie and her team will decide to move up to Senior level completeyl, not just nationally. It sounds like they're still unsure from the quote on icenetwork article. I just don't see the point of her staying at juniors. She's passed growth spurt, has the most amazing jumps and most complete sets in the world, medalled at junior worlds.. why still undecided? i don't get it.

would the results of the senior ladies at Worlds this year perhaps have a bearing whether Gracie gets potentially 1 or 2 senior GPs?

Here's Gracie Gold's silver medal winning FS from Junior Worlds earlier today (thanks to loopey for finding/posting this link in the JW Ladies FS thread in the Kiss and Cry forum): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAHwUzXAtfw

ETA this better quality FS video posted by Maofan7 today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeVW1HvZNrk

She's guaranteed one with the medal, right? She's currently 11th on the Season's Best list, but that will change after worlds. I'd guess she'd still be in the top fifteen or so after Worlds.

Gold is currently #11 on the SB list (her total score of 172.69 from the 2011 Estonia JGP was higher than her 171.85 at 2012 Junior Worlds).

ETA: Usually the U.S. skaters are asked by USFS whether or not they elect to compete senior or junior internationally after the season is over.

The only thing I could possibly think it that they don't want her to collapse under the pressure of "rush rush rush..." but she wants to go to Sochi, so moving up would be a great way to get her name out there.

Congrats Gold not only on the Jr World silver medal but more importantly on beating Sotnikova and Shelepen in her first outing against them.
