I wish Debra Messing was single on the show. Maybe they'll get the back stories out of the way.

I agree. I would prefer if the show just focused on her relationship with her work. The family issues are boring, IMO.

I agree with Matryeshka that Megan Hilty (sp?) seems like the obvious choice to be Marilyn. I don't buy the McPhee character being considered such a close rival to Hilty.

Wow. That's rather raunchier than I expected. :smokin:

And on a second note, who the HELL would pick Katherine "Brown Mouse" McPhee over that fabulous :grope: creature to play Marilyn Monroe?!!!

She really didn't know what "light" meant?

She really went to the director's apartment alone at night?

That last scene just kills it. I love it more and more each time I see it.

LOVED IT. Besides the music, this show is very different from Glee (besides, they're on different times and days--you can still watch both). The scope is quite different from really anything we see on TV these days. And I basically liked everyone. But for the LOVE OF GOD, do not pair up McPhee with jerkass director. Dev is too hot to lose!

I can see why either could be chosen as Marilyn. I don't see one being all that much better than the other.

That part when she was in the directors apartment singing to him was just stupid, the rest was really good.

pacing and writing in the beginning of the episode was a bit rushed/cheesy, but they got me hooked in, and the last 15 minutes were just fab. Loving the showdown set up between Tom and the eville director, love the hapless assistant who unwittingly launched the social media campaign, loved seeing Alex Wong, love the soapy mess of Anjelica Huston's character, love the 10pm hour ribaldry (is that a word?), love seeing a local girl on tv (Megan Hilty is from Bellevue WA), love Kat McPhee, and lurved the final duet. Not sure how a show like this will maintain the tension beyond one season, but I'm hooked! :D

I am still wondering if I'll keep it on my watch list. They'll ruin this show I'm sure !

I thought it would be snarkier, a bit like what Glee was in the first 9/13 episodes.
Which isn't the case obviously.
And I'm not quite sure I get the broadway vibe at all. but still, I'll be waiting for more !

I was disappointed they didn't mention that when they were listing all the Marilyn projects.

Let's not forget Pasha! Her Olympics '98 embarrassment. She was Marilyn in her mind

I liked it. I think it has to develop. McFee's character is light. Possibly, they have scripted her to hold back a bit, for now. There were some cliches, but they are also realities. The most unbelieveable character is the boyfriend. Supportive is one thing, he's in a whole other category!
