No, just an opinionated, self righteous, poster on a skating board. Who knows nothing about the people she insults and likes to feel superior to. Sad for you.

First of all, I have always been a he-- wanted yo make sure that yiu ha e your pronouns right. And secondly, this thread is about Smash-- not TBoM. If anyone is self-righteous, it would be you because your opnion seems to be gospel. I simply suggested that you hav a cocktail to relax. You're taking his way too seriously which leads me to wonder how much happiness you have in your life.

Yes, I saw the play. And own the CD and have listened to the music a zillion times. I wouldn't presume to offer my view about it if I didn't know what I was talking about.

Of course you're completely entitled to your opinion. But I do think you're confusing mockery with satire. Mockery is mean-spirited and petty. There is nothing mean-spirited or petty about this play -- and if you saw or read anything from Trey Parker or Matt Stone, their respect for the LDS church would be immediately obvious.

Satire, oth, is an artistic genre that uses irony for social commentary.

I do know what satire is. And I will agree that some of the play is satirical, rather than mockery. But, I do feel that some of it is mockery. I suppose that the excessive use of foul language bothered me the most. Again, I am not a fan of that kind of humor. And I do not have a problem with art questioning politics and religion. I loved/love Jesus Christ Superstar.

I stand corrected on your gender.

 Oh, my goodness, this may be the first time FSU has experienced thread drift!

It amazes me that you have a problem with me having a strong opinion on a musical. I'm over the top? Yet, you have no problem making assumptions regarding my life and happiness. Interesting perspective

What have art and Jesus Christ Superstar got to do with each other? :P

The same thing B of M and art have to do with each other.

Well, that wasn't your main criticism earlier, it was the "mockery" that you said you didn't like.

Obviously if foul language bothers you, a play written by Trey Parker and Matt Stone is not for you.

I knew that a play by Parker/Stone would absolutely not be for me. As I said, the tickets were a gift. Actually, the foul language was always my main criticism, that is where I see the mockery. We all have different tastes and opinions. That's what makes the world interesting. If we all thought the same thing and agreed on everything, it would be incredibly boring. :)

I should also mention that swearing, itself, doesn't bother me, when it's appropriate. I've dropped my fair share of "F bombs". I just have never thought that swearing, for the sake of saying the word (repeatedly) was funny.

It's a real shame you felt you had to go to this thing you knew you wouldn't like because some one gave it to you as a gift.

Why? The gift was a lovely gesture, they know we like going to the theater. The people who gave us the tickets saw it, and enjoyed it. My husband wanted to see it, though he did not enjoy it as much as he expected to. Our friends had no idea that I would not like it. Sometimes you do things to make other people happy. That, in turn, should make us happy. :) And what's so awful about seeing a musical you don't care for? It's two hours of your life. We had an enjoyable dinner with our friends afterward. I positively hated Sweeney Todd, as did the entire group we went with. I saw that when I was a teenager, hated it then. But saw it again anyway. Well, saw half of it, everyone agreed, during intermission that a drink would be better than seeing the end.

The fact is, for me, all of the foul language in a play "satirizing" a religion, seems wrong.

Foul language in a play satirizing religion seems just about right to me :P

It sounds like it was pretty awful for you, judging by the amount of complaining.

Not amount of complaining, it's actually more painful to deal with the level of criticism, here, for having an opinion.

Really? I'll tell you why. He thought it was trite. He expected more sophisticated humor (why he expected that, from the writers of South Park, I don't know). He thought all of the fcuk a frog stuff was idiotic. He thought all of the hype was unwarranted. does that answer your question? Or do you want to assume that you know more than you do?

Well the question was rhetorical so I didn't really need an answer. ;)

Anyway, so long as your trip to the theatre to make other people happy makes you happy, it's all good isn't it? Did they ask you about your favourite part? And did you reply "Fcuk a frog"?

The question was not rhetorical. It was implying that my husband did not enjoy the play because I disliked it. I responded to assure you that my husband is quite capable of being disappointed in a play, all on his own.

It is all good. Maybe more people should think that way.
