The emotional abuse Ivy's going through from the director is bothering me a lot :( And I started thinking, I bet many skaters, especially female ones, probably go through the same form of abuse from coaches/parents/federation officials.

I just, I mean, ugh, I, just, HATE, I mean, REALLY HATE the adultery storyline. When is this storyline going to end? There is too much HATE in this show.

I also cannot stand any of the songs tonight. Why does this show insist on making their leading ladies sing in their bedrooms? And what the friggin' hell was with all the bendy wrist moves in the bar mitzvah?

What I love? Anjelica Huston's possible hookup with the hottie bartender. Just remain inside the walls of the rehearsal hall and never enter Julia's house ever again. That said, I love all the real estate porn on this show.

Gawd, Julia and Michael are so insanely NOT SEXY. Aren't the actors a couple in real life? OOps.

Grrr, I was really hoping for more drama this ep - way too much real estate taken up by dopey Julia and her dopey too-old-to-be-pouting-like-that son and her dopey bet-you-forgot-I-was-on-this-show husband and her not-remotely-sexy-or-interesting fling. The Ivy prednisone storyline was a bit silly but I liked when she freaked about seeing Karen/Marilyn in the mirror and the strop she threw at the end woke me up.

The Bar Mitzvah plot was silly, other than getting to hear Karen plus at least 2 female backup singers when the band only had men, none of whom were singing into their microphones. But Karen getting more jobs as a result of an Ivy hand-me-down would be priceless :HA!:

:cheer2: I didn't understand any of the scenes with Anjelica and her growing bevy of young boys, but me likeee!! It's just the kind of trash this show needs way more of :psoty:

Are you guys on episode 5? We are a couple of weeks behind down here but I've been downloading them to watch it earlier (yes I also scream "hurry" at the microwave). If it is 5, I too didn't like the songs, the bedroom number from Karen made me thro up in my mouth a little bit as there was just too much cheese. Absolutely loving her voice though, I find it reminiscent of Tina Arena (Aussie chick who's huge in France). The dance routine the guys did in the bar with Karen was so much like some jazz routine you would do in class, not so much perform on stage, but I thought it was camp. Angelica is such a gem in this show, I suppose true talent can float above the cheese. Still loving it though. Not as much as I loved the first episode of GCB (Good Christian Bitches... or Belles as the studio wanted to call it).

Some of that abuse is because of her insecure, needy whining. Not saying he isn't a prick, but she's behaving just as badly.

As to skaters, add partners to that list.

 Glad I'm not the only one who was looking for the female back-up singers. Also, at the end of the Mar Mitzvah, I was expecting the guy who came up to her to tell her she was only getting paid half, since she seemed to spend the entire night on her phone and didn't know the words to Hava Nagila.

I was expecting him to complain that her big ending number was rife with "damn" "hell" and there was one other thing that seemed maybe inappropriate for a religious celebrations for 13-ish year olds

But it was "on the list." So that makes it ok.

Never heard, nor heard of, that song before btw. Or pretty much any of the other pop covers in last night's ep. Nor do I care to hear them again. At least with previous ep's music it was at least likable and (to me) familiar. (Don't worry, I won't rant again about wanting more Broadway songs, I've said my peace on that.)

And I don't blame Debra Messing's acting, I blame the writing. She was fairly awesome in the first couple of episodes ... then they started writing absolute cheese for her.

I'm loving Angelica Huston though, even if she can't see Ellis for what he is. And I like Sam, the "straightest gay chorus boy in the world" -- how long do you reckon before he and Tom hook up?

The one thing that bugs me is that Karen is financially stable because of her BF. I want her to live in Astoria or Hamilton Heights in a crappy apartment. With cockroaches. And Dominican neighbors. Then I would believe it. But for all of the show's faults, it's very similar to what I experienced when I was living that life in NYC.

I laughed at that too, I would love for my minimum payment to be $300.

I think Angelica Houston was miscast.

That said, I love all the real estate porn on this show.

From the EW recap:

- Between Julia's brownstone, the apartment Eileen doesn't buy, and Boring John's palatial place, Smash is really bringing it on the real estate front.

If I had $300 credit card bill and I didn't have the money to pay it off, I'd freak out . I can't handle owing money, that's why I try to pay cash as much as possible. I'm so neurotic!

But you're not a 20-something actress trying to break into show biz (at least I don't think you are  )
