I thought Natalie Portman looked too thin, her arms especially.

Angelina Jolie is absolutely gorgeous.

Viola Davis looked really great, too.

Claire Danes looked good. Coulda sprung for a bra or something :shuffle:

Nicole Kidman - mostly good. As someone said, looks a little too 'overproduced' and factory made sometimes

I thought Sofia Vergara and Evan Rachel Wood had too much train on their dresses, but looked really great otherwise.

Charlize Theron looked / is stunning .... but fecked it up with those ruffles :scream:

Natalie Portman looked really good from the shoulders up, but that dress was a good try that looked like it didn't fit all that well.

Reese Witherspoon made a good attempt, but it looked messy from the waist down, and she was channeling 'Jennifer Aniston wannabe' too much for my taste.

Madonna looked like the dress was cutting off circulation to her arms. And despite looking more wholesome than normally imaginable, I found the whole look quite zzzzzzz? WTF is up with the glove that matches nothing in the ensemble?

Jessica Lange was fine ... until she turned around and I saw she was backless

Jane Fonda looked phenomenal! Until I caught the back view and saw she was backless as well

Laura Dern looks like she tries hard. Nice attempt on the dress, but it didn't really do anything. Right dress - wrong woman?

Julianne Moore was OK, but for the damn ruffles!

Looks like someone was suffering from pretentious-posing-itis last night,:

I wish men' fashion could evolve into something more interesting. Every year it's the same pant, shirt, jacket and tie combination. Blech. The young actors should take chances, ie wear a man dress, and not care that they'll be on Worst Dress List the next day.

Hellen Mirren is a definite G.I.L.F. (or is it GG.I.L.F) She's absolutely gorgeous.

ITA. To me Helen Mirren can do no wrong. I even sat through Russell Brand's remake of Arthur for her.

...I loved Angelina and was very surprised to see her criticized in quite a few places. I thought she knocked it out of the park. Same with Sofia Vergara, Viola Davis, Emma Stone, Nicole Kidman, Jane Fonda and Helen Mirren.

.....

I was surprised as well, not neccesarily because I thought she was the best dressed but usually no matter what she wears (even during the Mortica Adams days) the press goes into full gush mode when other ladies have hit it out of the park.

I do think compared to her own past outfits Angelina looked really good although I didn't care for the red part on top. I liked the dress from behind and didn't think it needed the color strip on top. That said I still didn't think she was the best of the night. I sometimes feel she gets points just for being Angelina. :shuffle: I will say at least she didn't look like many of the other women with the excess Botox.

I don't know how they would dare criticize anyone. Kelly was the worst last night. Terrible dress. Horrible hair. And Giuliana didn't look great either.

.....

I'll give Giuliana a pass this year. She just had a double mastectomy last month. Given that she went back to work in 3 weeks, the woman can do on wrong in my book. Next year, I'll pick on her. :shuffle:

....And Kelly Osborne - if you're going to be a 'fashion critic', dress better.

I  every time Giuliana and Kelly trash someone on Fashion Police. If they weren't working with Joan she would have a field day with them.

dbell, for the most part I've been doing the same thing with Giuliana, I hate that she has cancer and hope the mastectomy got rid of all it.

However, when I watched the part of the Red Carpet show last night it reminded me of why I never liked her at all. It makes me cringe watching her interview celebrities; I get second hand embarrasment. Her interview when she tried to get the lead singer from Maroon 5 to tell what songs he sang to his girlfriend was :yikes:. If someone tells you they don't want to share information then let it go. He finally had to cut her off and change the subject. I don't think the poor woman has any shame.

It reminds me of the time George Clooney told her to have some class.

The past couple of years hasn't been that great as far as the number of really "wow" dresses go. My favorites of the night were Sofia Vergara (the mermaid style usually is meh), Reese Witherspoon and Jessica Alba.

Other "hits" for me were Helen Mirren, Nicole Kidman and Zooey Deschanel. With Nicole and Zooey, I'm surprised I liked their dresses but they worked for each actress.

Could someone explain the popularity of Julie Bowen to me? She has to be one of the most overrated "babes" I've ever seen.

May we all grow old as gracefully and beautifully as Dame Helen Mirren, eh, ladies?

I think she is trying to cover up the body parts that the dress isn't hiding very well

I think the dress is pretty awful. And she is not comfortable in her own skin, let alone this dress.

Hey ice dance fans, headband alert! (http://www.peoplestylewatch.com/people/stylewatch/package/gallery/0,,20552369_20561867,00.html?stitched) I like the look a lot but haven't yet met a headband that wouldn't either slide right off or cause a headache. :(

There is nothing wrong with being confident but Lea Michelle always strikes me as being her own biggest fan; her fans will never love her as much as she does. And the top of that dress looks like one of the worst of the nekkid illusion fabric skating costumes.

Actually, Lea Michelle oozes self-consciousness and lack of confidence. For confidence look at Helen Mirren. (http://cdn.buzznet.com/media/jj1/2012/01/mirren-globes/helen-mirren-2012-golden-globes-red-carpet-02.jpg) Her pose and smile are relaxed and genuine, yet attractive and dignified. Perfect hair, make up and dress help.

Also, what was up with Jessica Biel? She is so gorgeous but with that dress, hair and make up, you wouldn't know it.

Heh, that's just her usual routine. I know a lot of people hate it, but I find it hilarious. Then again, I've always loved the fact that she's basically a big old drama queen - it's funny and harmless. I've never really understood the insane amount of hatred she seems to generate from some people. From what I can tell, her biggest crime seems to be being both confident and ambitious and not bothering to hide it. Frankly, that just makes me like her more.

That being said, this was not her best red carpet outing. I think my biggest problem with it was that it's just too much dress for her teeny tiny frame. She used to have a knack for picking dresses that made her look about eight feet tall (like this one (http://tinypic.com/r/jl33w0/5), which is still her best ever red carpet look IMO), and I wish she'd get back to that.

Anyways, my best dressed: Emma Stone, Claire Danes, Nicole Kidman, and Laura Dern. I thought Angelina looked great, but I wasn't bowled over by it like most people seem to have been.

This. IMO Jessica has one of the best bodies in Hollywood but lately she shows up to events wearing Grandmother of the bride type dresses. And her hair almost never looks appropriate for the dresses she wears. Maybe she's trying to be more conservative or demure for some reason?

Dunno. Not only her body is great, her face is very beautiful too. When packaged right (http://cocktailswithpatrick.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/jessica-biel-white-dress-0be58.jpg), she stuns.

I'm watching the Golden Globes. I love watching Kelly Osbourne's fake oh-my-god-I-can't-believe-what-the-plastic-lizard-is-saying. Cause Joan is so skandalous.
I think Lea Michelle's mugging is playing for humor, but it doesn't work for her.

Finally saw Reese's dress, and I don't get what the hate-on for it was. She looks like a high-class brothel mermaid, and who doesn't want to look like a slutty mermaid? I'm serious, I really like her and she carried it off.

I thought it was ill-fitting and the mermaid tail in particular looked like it had a rough night too many. And I usually adore what she wears. (http://cdn02.cdn.gofugyourself.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/107235150-419x640.jpg)
