Lots of tidbits re Rachael Flatt. Bold mine -
:yikes:

:yikes: is right. It sounds like we might be headed for a disaster of a ladies event here. Really hoping Ashley and some of the young'uns bring it!

We are 10 days away from the Ladies SP in San Jose. Wagner is very hungry right now and no one else really seems like they're physically or emotionally ready to challenge her at this point. Team Ashley! :cheer2:

^^Man, I can't wait!

We can speculate from now til Juvember, but the point always is none of us have the slightest clue what's going to happen. The fact that none of the top US ladies are sure bets means everything is up in the air at this point: has Alissa recovered enough? Is she even capable of defending a title? (easier said than done...) Will Mirai have a performance like she did in 2010 or at last years 4CC? Will Ashley get over the SP hump and carry that momentum through to the LP? Is Rachael capable of making the podium this year? What about the "newbies"? How will they do?

So many questions!!!

I wish there were more skaters raring to go like Ashley. Sigh. It'll be an interesting year. But it's a long ride up to the Olympics. Maybe this is the right time for everyone to get the kinks out.

Here's a look at Rachael's new dress: http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/photo/2012/0113/espnw_flattdress_300.jpg&w=300

I think that Haley Dunne is going to do very well her practices have been looking very impressive with all of her triples and even some triple triples:)

I think that the last time Nationals was this unpredictable was 2008. ;) Let's hope.

Did anyone else notice how Rachael said "Once I start competing, Nationals come first"? That sounds like before the competition starts, other things are higher priority for her. It takes so much time/effort beforehand to do well on the competition day, I can't see how she could expect magic on the competition ice when beforehand she hadn't prioritized it.

I think that this is the transition year for US skating. I think that there will be some ugly performances from some of the top skaters, and some 'unknown' (not to us-- to the rest of the world) will step up and cash in. There are a few up and comers who are on the verge, and it could be that two clean performances with a little flair could be what propels them into the next level. Think Gao, Cesario, Siraj, Keiser. It could get interesting.

Someone who cares about Rachael the person needs to step in and help her create a sustainable schedule and realistic expectations. She's at a vulnerable and critical point in her personal development, and I shudder to think of the impact of all these demoralizing experiences.

This. ITA.

I'm cringing at the possible disasters that Flatt, Nagasu, and Czisny may bring. They've all got me worried.

Is this potentially the 2012 version of the men's competition in 2003(Dallas)? :scream:

I am really offended at how you are favoring Flatt, Nagasu, and Czisny here! You are overlooking the other ladies; they are capable of disaster too. Why don't you give them a chance as well?

I wish it had sleeves (maybe black sheer), and that it was a bit longer....:shuffle:

But if she's getting rid of the OTBs, I'm jumping for joy! I'm so over the OTBs...the classic look is back in.

Well, between Flatt and Nagasu's cringeworthy interviews and Czisny's one triple FS at that exhibition it doesn't really give one much hope. :shuffle:
