really ?

does this mean Alissa is falling out of favor from Ashley
or maybe she just wants to improve things for the next season
I suspect that's the latter as she hasn't been in top form since the GP

I assume it's an attempt to get some high scores out there. Still weird, though.

I assume Czisny and her team believe it's in her best interest to compete one more time before Worlds. It may be as simple as that.

I'm glad Leah Keiser is getting her first international opportunity in the Challenge Cup Junior Ladies event!

Does the WTT look at World Standings or Season World Rankings?
It's not clear from the wording in the Announcement - check out my post in the World Team Trophy thread in GSD: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3467228&postcount=24

Jeremy Abbott also could use an international event before Worlds .... and he couldn't do 4CCs. So, if Yuka (and/or Jason) can bring all three of their World competitor students to Europe and stay there, it could be very good for the men as well as for Alissa. Of course, if there has to be a flight from Europe back to the US and then to Europe again for Worlds, I will think that the USFS is sabotaging its own team.

I was wondering if Rippon would follow them to Europe early or would stay in US until late March.

For the competition, Abbott needs Sato and Czisny needs Dungen. So if Rippon was to stay home in the US and train, he would have to train alone.

Does it mean if Czisny does not perform well enough at Worlds, it will be Wagner and Zhang for the World Team Trophy?

Back in 2009, after Caroline ...... um ...... lost her chance at the World team with a bronze at Nationals, Alissa did not do well at Worlds. Rachael and Caroline went to WTT, and the U.S. team won. Both of them walked away with a $30,000 paycheck. :D

Does Nagasu have to go to WTT? Can she decline her spot or does she have to be "injured"?

If Mirai doesn't want the money, some other skater will gladly accept it.

Since Alissa went to Colorado, I would bet Rippon goes to Europe.

Yeah, if it's just about arriving a little earlier. It's good for getting over the jetlag too.

....

We know, you've only mentioned it a couple hundred times since then.

I guess she should just do 32 fouettes, then.

I can't think of a Swan Lake interpretation where the skater clearly expressed the characters. It's mostly just skating around in feathers and arm flapping. I hate the tippy toe thing too, but remembered, yeah, Odile again.

Miki Ando skates in a Black Swan (the movie) Art on Ice production in which Nina seems to me to be portrayed till the last quarter of the program. It's almost all Nina. Even the ballet dancer in the wings is Nina if you know what I mean, sort of a haunting double.

Maybe Ashley portrays Nina's struggles for a time as well, leading up to the dance as Odile.

32 fouettés are not unique to Swan Lake.

Controversial opinion: For the first time since 2007, the US has 2 ladies who are legitimate worlds medal contenders, given the state of the competition.

Discuss.

Well, in 2007 none of the US ladies medaled anyway. And haven't been able to do so since.

Our chances depend on two main things:

1) whether Wagner can keep it up
2) which Alyssa shows up at Worlds.
