I missed the competition, but I just saw the 4CC results and wow. I'll admit I've had doubts about Ashley and Caroline, even though I really like both. But I'm delighted to be proven wrong. Like Museks8r said, who would have thought it would be Alissa, Ashley, and Caroline in 2012? It's awesome. I can't wait to watch Ashley's and Caroline's LPs.

It is weird to feel pride for someone you don't even know, but my gosh I sure do feel proud of Caroline Zhang! I thought she was just going to fold last year -and look at her now! I was shocked at Nationals when I saw how mature and confident her skating had become - and look at her with the bronze at 4CC! It really does my heart good to see someone fight to succeed like that. She just turned it all around! It also goes to show everyone that it takes more than just talent to succeed. You have to take responsibility for it.

And Ashley... wow! I love her presence on the ice - her strength and her energy and her confidence. She is also a great example of persistence and discipline. Just curious but is she fast on the ice? It looks to me like she's traveling pretty fast but I know that the tv can be deceptive.

My thoughts after watching tonight's performances - US ladies are in good shape.

Ashley didn't beat Mao on Skating Skills and her jumps went from negative GOE at nats to positive GOE here because they were... cleaner.

The tech specialist apparently just decided not to call any edge calls tonight.

Caroline Zhang is currently 9th in the Seasons Best Scores. If the GP rules stay as they are, top 24 would qualify her for GP selection but not guarantee her anything if I remember correctly.

Not guarantee her anything means that she would only get a second spot if someone chose to invite her, but no GP event would be forced to invite her?

Ashley and Caroline ROCKED!!!! :respec:

As to Worlds-Caroline won't be there but Alissa will along with Ashley. I have hope.

All 3 of these ladies have worked hard to make improvements and get themselves noticed on the world stage again.

I hope Mirai is taking notes.

I'll leave it at that.

Right, looking at the announcement now, she'd be guaranteed one GP spot and eligible for a second.

Congrats to Ashley and Caroline!

I just hope Ashley has one more good SP and LP in her for Worlds...

it's a turn off for me, but i sure am glad you like it. lord knows we need more americans excited about our skaters

The arm movements on her spiral have been very controversial this season for Ashley. Some fans LOVE it, while others absolutely hate it. Well, it seems like it's working for the judge because she has consistently been getting +2s and +3s for her spiral.

I didn't expect Wagner winning. I thought a silver would be a major achievement already. To actually beat Asada on PCS is  .

And for the record, this is the first senior international championship won by a US lady since Meissner won 4CCs in 2007, 5 years ago.

Let's see if Wagner could also be the first US lady since Meisser (and Cohen) to medal at Worlds. :cheer: Nagasu and Czisny were close in the past 2 seasons. US ladies recapturing that 3 spot isn't THAT unlikely...

icenetwork's article on Wagner's 4CC win (although one thing isn't correct: Wagner also beat Asada at 2009 Cup of Russia)

The Golden Skate article made that error as well:
http://www.goldenskate.com/2012/02/wagner-captures-4cc-title/
"Wagner achieved another first in Colorado Springs—defeating two-time World Champion Mao Asada, who turned in a good performance"

Don't these journalists know to look up the facts before they post them?

Ashley has always been musical and interesting to watch (which is not that frequent nowadays) and now she's getting more and more sophisticated. she was special before, and skates like a queen now. never figured why her programs were always ignored in comparison to the Lori-Nicolesque cliché stuff of the other US girls. glad that people are noticing her, better later than never. shades of Yuna's Giselle in the Free.

I don't think the journalists had time to look that up. I didn't even know that fact off the top of my head!

Apparently Ashley was asked after her FS if she had ever beaten Mao and she herself said no. ;)
