Wagner has stated she is going for the 3-3 in the SP (and I think the LP too).

Here is the relevant excerpt/quotes by Ashley Wagner:

Wagner and her coaches have made some changes to her Black Swan free skate, choreographed by Mills.

"We have completely overhauled the program," Wagner said. "The triple [flip]-triple [toe] is in, and we completely changed the choreography of the second half, layout wise. I think it's a lot more entertaining and bigger and better.

"As of now, the flip-toe is also in the short, and we'll see how solid it is and go from there."

Here's a transcription of Nagasu's media teleconference from yesterday: http://www.iceskatingintnl.com/archive/features/Nagasu%2011Jun2012.htm

Normally, I'm all for risk-taking, but I still think Wagner is better off going for clean in the short...put yourself in position, THEN take the risk in the FS. At Nationals, Wagner has lagged behind her competitors after the SP due to her mistakes, not so much her lack of difficulty.

She is just hysterical. She talked more about food network than anything else.

I do think she has a point about working on her artistry. She references Carolina Kostner- a skater who doesn't have high technical content, but is great to watch. If Mirai could learn to pair that with tech content, it would be fantastic.

Don't know what to think of Mirai's interview... Whether I should be excited or nervous for her at Nationals...

I suppose it could work...Nagasu being the American Kostner...but I think that title squarely belongs to Czisny at this point.

Nagasu may be scattered in her thoughts, but she is definitely real. Meaning she truly expresses her feelings and thoughts freely. I really like that about her- again, refreshing/not typical of skaters.

I'm sure Nicks and Wagner have it all figured out. Maybe she'll even bring back some of that 2008 Nationals magic that she had jumping wise.

^ I wonder if Wagner is now the sentimental favorite. Certainly seems so judging by forum comments...

She's always been one of my favorites...

Mirai seems as scattered as ever. I'm not going to expect much at Nationals from her.

Translation: Most likely no triple-triple in the short, but she doesn't want to say that yet.

I agree that Ashley would be better served by going for a solid, CLEAN short program..something that has eluded her since 2008. Then in the FS, she has to go all out and prove herself to those judges.

Anyways, it's so hard to see someone with that much guts and confidence crash and burn for the past 3 years at Nationals, especially when we have Mirai who isn't stepping up to the plate and Alissa who has a very gentle spirit. And then there was Rachael... I just want someone fresh for a change, who's done her work, and tells the media she wants to win Nationals for once. I sick of the US ladies having really no clear favorite (although that person may be Alissa). WE NEED TO GET OUT OF THIS SLUMP. On top of that, I really want Ashley to compete post-Nationals for a change.

Please let this Nationals be a good one for her, skate gods!

I wouldn't say Nagasu ISN'T stepping up to the plate at all; rather, she's just not doing so at the right time. She peaks too late in the season.
