^ She's peaking at the right time! But again- it's the FS where she is known to struggle. Can she handle the pressure of being leader after SP?

^ I doubt that Agnes will be able to put out a clean LP to be in the top 2 at least. She's too much of a headcase, and with added pressure of being in first, she probably won't put in a great long... But then again stranger things have happened in skating...

And you think the other skaters behind Agnes are known for being mentally tough?

Moreso than her...

I think it will be a big test for her. She hasn't been in that position before and who knows how she will handle the pressure. Regardless, her short program was great and she's clearly put herself in the hunt for the title.

I hope she holds up. Would be nice to see some new skaters representing the US at Worlds.

Wagner, who moved to the Los Angeles area to train with veteran coach John Nicks last summer, is thriving under Nicks' famous no-nonsense approach.

"I love it," she said. "My dad is a lot like Mr. Nicks; it's his way and that's it. So in the rink, Mr. Nicks basically tells me what I am doing to do, and that's what I do. That's helped my consistency and my confidence."

Man, I couldn't help but think of Sasha when I saw that.

Well the thing is Agnes would have been in first last year too if they had given her a 30 in PCS like they did this year...

Some folks on Twitter have been saying Flatt's score of 52 is low compared to what she put out there, even with the singled axel. What do you guys think?

Basically it seems to all but put her out of contention for a spot on the world team- 11 pts behind Wagner & Czisny and 9 pts behind Nagasu may be too much to overcome. Not only does Flatt have to be flawless but ALL THREE above have to tank. Now, it's possible that it will happen to at least two of them. And of course there is Zawadzki in the lead but she's definitely prone to an FS meltdown.

I think the scoring was accurate, and also I think Rachael is just as likely to drop as to climb in the standings. This is a good field here!

I hope someone posts a vid of Rachael's SP. From what I've read so far, the majority opinion seems to be that she did well and her placement is correct.

Rachael always had to skate clean. She was 3rd in 2010 after the sp with a 3/3. That was behind Nagasu and Cohen who did not have a 3/3. Rachael just does not have the spins or footwork, or even the choreography. She used to be consistent so that helped her, but now she's not consistent, but even if she was consistent, there are other skaters now with bigger jumps.

I truly admire her tho, it's so hard to balance skating and going to just a regular school, but she's going to STANFORD. So she should be extremely proud of herself.

Agree. IMO Rachael is the 10th-15th best US senior lady right now.

Exactly. Without the jumps what exactly DOES Rachael have over this field?
