I want Maria to win too. I used to not be a fan, but she's won me over with her work ethic and tremendous dedication to improve, especially after her shoulder surgery. I really hope she wins. She's been so close.

She used to be the cow on ice and look at her now.

Maria is serving very well.

Chris Evert: "Maria is the only Russian player to be ranked#1, ever, which is surprising considering all the great players from there"

facepalm

Maria is serving very well.

Yes, she is. And Kvitova isn't really taking advantage of her opportunities.

I had to mute the volume -- of all the shrieks and screams in tennis now, Maria's is by far the worst. :blah:

Another gem from Chris Evert: "Azarenka finished last year s the number one player but Petra was selected as ITF champion"

I'm sure that'll be news to both Wozniacki and Azarenka...

Petra's weaknesses are really really being exposed. She has very little variety to her game, doesn't know to do with the ball toss. If the ball toss is off, then adjust or stop.

 She's letting the audience know that.

I want to here her talk about this "Chics on bricks" phrase I heard during the tourney.

I hate the "mark system" at the French Open. So many wrong calls -- and Sharapova pointed to the wrong mark, could have been a mistake, but it looked like gamesmanship to me.

Congrats to Maria, on her first FO final and her new #1 ranking :)

Sharapova really just blasted Kvitova off the court today. Granted Kvitova made way too many errors and let Sharapova off the hook but Maria has been really consistent the last two weeks.

This will be a really interesting match, on paper Maria should blast Errani off the court but I don't think it will be the case at all. They've never met but Errani really knows how to play on the dirt. 4 of her 5 titles have come on clay including three this year. She won't blow Maria away but she's very consistent, gets a ton of balls back and is very adept at net play as the doubles result shows. Maria is hungry though, she wants this win desparately and I think will really hit through the court. I'm going to call Maria in two very tough sets, 7-6, 6-4 but it really could go either way.

I wish I could like Sharapova more than I do.

I wish I didn't like Kvitova as much as I do.

ugh.

And Errani

Maria has been the most consistent player for this year so I have no idea why people are so against her winning. A Maria win would keep the detractors from bashing WTA as an inconsistency-fest. I feel like she's the only player on tour who actually wants to win all the time.

Well the money should be on Sharapova to win but Errani has been playing well on clay so if she doesn't let her nerves to get to her she could take the game to Maria!! I do think Maria will win but it will either be an emphatic 2 set win or a very tight 3 setter - similar to Errani's win over Souser today!!

Now to the mens Semi's - I believe Nadal will be in the final on Sunday as no matter how was Ferrer plays Nadal has just been unstoppable these last 2 weeks. The other semi will be tighter IMHO - I would love to see Federer win but he has not been playing that great this torney - Nole has had a tough last couple of matches but overall has played a little better that Federer so I think he may take that.

I really hope that Novak goes into the final against Nadal

As much as I like and respect him, but I dont want Roger to play against Rafa as I know he will get smashed once again at a Roland Garros Final by the spaniard

Nole vs Rafa, thatīs the final I want

Personally, I respect Maria's perseverance and mental toughness but I think she's cold and unfriendly person. She keeps to herself on the tour and doesn't associate with any of the players, not even in the locker room. I've heard she sometimes doesn't even say hello when she walks in the locker room. But mostly, her game does nothing for me.

Actually, Vika Azarenka has been the most consistent and most successful woman on the tour so far. She has 4 titles and only 3 loses so far. The 2nd most consistent and successful player this year has been Radwanska.
