I agree with oleada - Ferrer winning would be an upset - of sorts - and so far he's up 2 sets to 1 ;)

Sigh. Kaia.

Daveeed :cheer:

I'm so happy he finally made an FO semi; he's got such a great attitude and is an all around good guy.

Of course he just has to face Nadal in the semi - and even though I think he can push Nadal I really don't think he can beat him on Nadal's current form.

Well, I got 3 of 4 right today - straight sets for Maria and Rafa, three sets for Kvitova and four sets (but to Ferrer, not Murray lol)

So for the semi;s, I'll say:

Stosur in three.
Maria in two.

Rafa in four.
Nole in four.

Slightly random question about Ferrer. Does he yell at himself duing matches? I have a vague recollection of a Spanish player berating himself saying something like 'complete idiot' after he made an unforced error. Am I confusing him with someone else?

Sara Errani in the FINALS!!!!!!!
7-5, 1-6, 6-3

That girl is kicking butt this clay court season. Her return of service was freaking incredible; staying on the baseline, sometimes standing inside the baseline. When she was up points in the game, she returned Sam's service inside the baseline, in the alley daring Stosur to hit the kick serve. Gutsy play from the Italian. Something about the Italian women tennis players, they never give up, great movement/speed and incredible variety to their games.

5ft 4 in Errani hanging tough in the FO.

I"m on record, Errani has a great great chance of winning this thing. She has the variety of game to beat Maria or Petra.

Erani wins against stosur, Italian are having good French open with Erani and Vinci in the doubles final, and Bracciali/Starace in the men's doubles semi-final.

I sincerely hope that either Kvitova or Sharapova beat Errani.

Same, but I'm happy for her nonetheless.

Errani/Vinci are by far the best doubles team this year, too.

How random... Sara Errani is a grand slam finalist  She's been playing well all clay season though and definitely knows how to play on this stuff, she's been two former champions and a finalist here. Has a couple of clay titles under her belt this season so she's not going to roll over. That being said, I don't think she has the firepower to compete with Sharapova, she might expose Kvitova's movement but I'd still expect the victor of the next semi to start the heavy favorite.

Both Maria and Petra a heavy hitters, Petra has the better serve but Maria's has been more consistent of late. Both players are not very good movers especially forward moving. Petra has a better drop shot than Maria. Maria only has one mode, hit hard.

Errani has the clay court knowledge to use the angles and drop shot the heck out of both them.

i want Masha to win the tournament just to prove herself wrong, remember her comparing her game on clay as 'cow on ice' from few years ago.

I'm rooting for Maria as well. I want to see her get the career Grand Slam.

I don't understand Petra's play sometimes. Her serve out wide has worked 80% of the time, why would you not continue that play. I would continue to the serve that way until Maria figures it out and consistently starts to be beat me. If it's working, don't stop doing it.

I just can't get into Petra's game sometimes, she doesn't play smart.
