Serena wasn't :drama: in peril of being permanently hobbled, nor "tripping and slippping and sliding" from the hellish blue courts :drama: ...

... while pulverizing Sharapova (sportsillustrated.cnn.com/tennis/news/20120511/madrid-open-friday/) today in Madrid.

:kickass: Wowsers, if Serena stays healthy this could be a season to behold for her ... and for fans of the sport. Never seen her in such good shape (look at those abs!), and she's 11-0 on clay thus far in 2012. (Abeit a couple of those wins on :cold: those dastardly blue courts!)

Loving Serena this week. Shame I missed the Sharapova match but she was great at the end of Woz.

Meanwhile Djokovic lost to Tipsarevic...

Roger beats Thomas Berdych in 3 sets and moves to #2 in the world. Interesting prize he won there.

Yay, Rogi! congrats on another title, on yet another surface, blue clay.

While some complained about the surface, he just went out and did his job and adjusted to the conditions. Gosh, but that must bug some of his competitors.

I'm not really a Roger fan but I do have to give him his props that he just went out there and did his thing. I don't think anyone loved this surface but he adapted with no whining.

However, it really should change back to red clay for next year.

Hahahahaha!!! Both champions were wearing the dreaded...BLUE!
And...yes...it was nice to be able to follow the entire flight of the ball against the dreaded...BLUE! :D

Nice thoughts from Billie Jean King about champions being able to make "the necessary adjustments".

I was only able to watch bits and pieces of this, but when I saw Roger playing, I saw him sliding beautifully, weight balanced over both feet and judging the resistance of the surface. His game does depend more on offense--excellent serving and hitting winners from all angles--and less on running down every single ball, and I think that helped him. Very excited about his 20th Master's title and regaining #2. Not bad for an old guy.

Not a fan of Serena's after some of her on-court behavior, but her recent tennis has been out of this world. And she's in super shape. She's a monster out there! Also not bad for an old lady and good to see.

Onward to Rome!

I think I gained around 10-12 years watching Li-Sharapova.

Of course, being a MASSIVE Na Li fan, I knew it was inevitable she'd find all kinds of ingenious ways to **** it all up.

Very. big. sigh.

Lovin how :watch: it was though.
