Big John wins the 4th Rubber in 4 sets!!! :cheer2:
USA boys back into the Semis!!!! :biggrinbo
:kickass: Get Spain! Get 'em! (But, don't mangle those handsome faces.)
Looooong way until September, with the bulk of the important tournaments and the Olympics in between. :watch: Who will be left standing/not too exhausted for a Davis Cup semifinals just ~10 days after the US Open?
I'd put Rafa's odds for participation at about 17%, as he's already stated he probably won't (to preserve his body "and" because he's mightily miffed at the ATP for not listening to his gripes), *and* because he's usually a physical wreck each fall. If he doesn't, USA has a chance.
:respec: Already an ey-popping Davis Cup year for USA, with AWAY wins vs. Federer/Switzerland and now France.

Just watched Serena/Stosur
Dear god that was good.
Ree didn't let up. Today she smashed Safarova in the final 6-0/6-1. :kickass:
Surreal to see a woman who served a double bagel in the semis barely avoid being the double bagel victim the next day in the final. Lucie won the 4th game of the last set

Monte Carlo: Nadal, Djokovic, or someone else?
Hard for me to see anyone but Djokovic winning this. He seems to have Nadal's number.

I'm thinking Djokovic too. Plus he lives there, so he surely knows the courts well.
Kerber upset Wozniacki at the Copenhaguen final today.

:cheer2: Big John will be USA #1 (and up to #9 in the world) when tomorrow's rankings are released. Kudos, to Isner ... this was a big goal of his. Great week, even though it ended with a loss in the US Clay finals to Juan Monaco.
No shame there, as Monaco has been on a tear :kickass: and is a true threat to win any clay tournament, even Roland Garros, this year.

Monaco :cheer2: Love that guy.
Great to see Angelique Kerber doing so well lately :D

 Nadal is going for his 8th consecutive Monte Carlo Masters title.
 Nadal hasn't won a tournament since Roland Garros, last year.
Nadal talks pre-MC (www.cbssports.com/tennis/story/18604603/nadal-worried-about-knee-heading-into-clay-season) (Methinks that Djokovic has to be the MC favorite, even if Rafa were :sekret: healthy.)
Rafa is getting tiresome with his call for more claycourt tournaments. Love the guy, most of the time, but he's often blatantly self-serving in his "how to improve tennis" comments, proposals, and demands. As for "more grasscourt tournaments," I'd love to this, but it ain't gonna happen ... too expensive and difficult to maintain.

Rafa got tiresome about six years ago. To me, anyway ;)
I hadn't noticed he hadn't won a tournament since RG
04-16-2012, 10:51 PM
Yeh, I can understand that.
I'm :( because Rafa is going the Andy Roddick route ... so fresh and charming for the first half of his career, then gradually getting tiresome. Actually, it's kind've "Mirror Andy" ...
... Andy is only good (albeit VERY good) in press conferences and other non-oncourt scenarios nowadays, while mostly intolerable on-court. Rafa is still :kickass: to watch on court (except for the knicker picking), but getting increasingly tough to listen to off the court.

(Not that it's shocking, but) Clijsters won't be at RG, or indeed any other clay event this year (or ever again, surely) due to her injury.

Djokovic won against Dolgopolov today, despite hearing his grandfather passed away a few hours before the match. I wonder if this will make him more determined to win the title.

So sad for Djoko :( It's so hard to go on after a loved one dies.
JJ's new coach is Zeljo Krajan, who just gave an interview saying how hard it is to work with the emotionally unstable Safina and Cibulkova. And he picks Jelena Jankovic?!

Good ole' (useless) JJ :cheer2:

Nadal keeps streak of Monte Carlo titles alive, winning his 8th straight in convincing fashion over Djokovic. This is also Nadal's 20th Masters title.
