I'm rather pleased we don't get another Rafa-Nole rally practice for the final :D

I was a very happy tennis fan yesterday. Yay Fed! Yay Isner!

Bummer about Ivanovic's injury on Friday. But still looking forward to a #1 vs. #2 on the women's side.

Oh my. I'm not able to watch the women's final live, but I'm watching the live scores on my computer. Azarenka appears to be plowing through Sharapova. Your serve, my serve . . . it's all my hot knife through your butter.

It's the usual mindless ball bashing but Azarenka is just eating it up and spitting it out. Sharapova is like a completely different player when she gets to the finals, she's so average.

Interestingly after looking at the stats Marie has actually gotten a 1st serve % that is better than Victoria - 81% to 73% in the first and so far in the 2nd set 77% to 57% yet Vicky has just broken Maria for a 2nd time in the 2nd set. Vicky is seemingly getting everything back. This should be over soon if it continues at this rate.

I think that Vika's deep returns completely neutralize Maria's best weapons, and I think she hits a spinnier (?) ball than Maria likes. Maria also keeps trying to outlast Vika, which isn't going to happen. Maria's footwork just seems a step behind. Also, on a few points Maria tried to come to the net which went as well as you can imagine

She started the match playing decently but now Maria seems frustrated and is an error machine. Vika isn't even playing as well as she did in previous matches.

It's obviously a terrible match-up for Maria. Even an 18 year old Vika beat pre-surgery Maria in straight sets .

Well done both Viki and Roger on their singles wins at Indian Wells and way to got Rafa and Marc for their doubles win - is there a possibility that they will team up in London for the Olympics doubles comp?

Isner pushed Fed all the way in that 1st set and could have taken the tie-break which could have out more pressure on Fed in the 2nd set. But once Fed won that he seemed to move into another gear. Isner should be proud and pleased with his performance this past week - he is really developing his game more and has shown he can compete with the best in the game.

Clijsters targets London (tennis.si.com/2012/03/06/kim-clijsters-still-on-the-mend-puts-priority-on-london-games/) Olympics / not in a hurry to come back.

:) Hope it works out for Kim, and she can manage an Olympic medal. Methinks she should just skip the clay court season entirely. Why put that extra stress on the body for so-so results?

Agreed. It's kind of nice to see these "old-timers" sticking around for the Olys. It reminds me skating :)

Disagree. Annoying how female tennis players take sabbaticals and then return at will. Imagine Nadal taking a year off, packing on the pounds a la Serena, and then returning and immediately winning again. Shows the state of the women's game.

Or it shows what a great player Serena or Nadal or whomever truly is.

I do think the women's game has picked up with the top seeds actually winning majors. Wozniaki is the anomaly, and her ranking is dropping like a stone.

Nope, it shows how inept other women are, plus a striking lack of depth. No way a fata@@ Nadal or Djokovic is defeating Federer, Murray, Delpo, or countless others.

Do you really think this criticism of the women's game is over the top? I pay quite a bit for my tickets & would like to see strong matches. Past greats ie M. Navratilova have said far worse. If there's no honest discussion, there's not much going on in a conversation, is there?
