And Llodra doesn't think he did anything wrong:

Llodra insisted to Chinese reporters that he is not racist and he doesn’t want to lose fans in China but dismissed the comment as an outburst borne from the heat of competition. Speaking with a Chinese reporter, Llodra said his words were not directed at China, Japan, or Asia in general. Then, he continued, “I love Chinese — I can totally make love with a Chinese girl,” before an ATP official cut him off.

Good lord, he sounds dim.

I don't care for Llodra and I'm not trying to defend him, but...

First, it would be "putain DE Chinoise".

Second, "putain de" has become fairly common in French and as far as I'm concerned the "whore" has long been taken out of that expression. How many times I've said "putains d'avions" (planes) in my life, I don't know (I live close to an army air base)... it just means that they're really, really getting on my nerves.

:) Isner took down Simon in 3 (incredibly - no tiebreakers!) last night, and now just needs to defeat Djokovic tomorrow (just!) in the semis to break into the top 10.

:respec: Kudos to Big John for his very hard work and true dedication to improving his game. He's progressed from Karlovicesque serve-only to a more all-court game ,albeit still with the big serve to rely on when other shots are looking dicey. His improvements in movement, alone, are quite props worthy.

Absent a win over Nole, John will almost certainly hit top 10 sometime before the French Open, as he is defending scant points and has worked hard to significantly improve his clay court prowess ... to the point where he is a legitimate Roland Garros QF or thereabouts threat.

Is Isner the American #1 now? He is certainly willing to work at developing his game and kudos to him for getting to the QF. Now just to beat Nole :). Where is Andy Roddick in the rankings? I know he has dropped down and was windering if he was considering retirement.

Agreed about Isner. A few years ago, I could barely stand to watch him stumble around the court. Now he's a pleasure to watch, and improving things as fundamental as movement and touch can't be easy in one's mid-20s.

Andy Roddick is #30 or so and has been struggling badly. His game seems to have been coming back together a bit more in the last few weeks. There's a lot of speculation about his retirement, but if he still loves playing and thinks he can get back to his previous level, there's no reason to think he'll call it quits this year.

and thinks he can get back to his previous level

That would be called being delusional at this point (and frankly I highly doubt he is that delusional, he is just playing out the string now, and will retire soon).

Top 10 for Big John! :cheer2:

Wowsers. What a great match to have on ABC ... high quality, high stakes (#1 versus a guy who can reach Top 10 with a win), and at long last an American involved in said match.

Unless Mardy goes on a tear, John should be USA #1 pretty soon.

Congrats to Isner. Really good match :respec:

Novak has got to regret that stupid challenge at 5-4 in the first set!

 And it's not like Djokovic played that bad, he didn't, he played really well! Isner came up with the big points when he needed :)

I know it's not as big but Aleksandra Wozniak captures the $100K+ final Nassau Open in the Bahamas. It's not a WTA title but pretty much the biggest level just outside the WTA, its' important because this should really help her ranking. She needs top 60 before June and with not a lot to defend I think she's entirely capable of getting there. Really glad she got this win!

Exactly! Another :kickass: component to this being shown live on an actual American commercial network. (Unfortunately, it probably won't get too many eyes considering it's up against the NCAA basketball tournament.)
