Vika? Is she the first Belarusian player to make it to GS final? Or did Zvereva make it to the french ?

She did and was double bageled by Steffi :o

I love Petra's game but she has to work on her diet. She should not have love handles. Belly fat for women is largely based on diet.

Natalia Zvereva one of my favorite players of all time. Incredibly crafty versatile game. One of the best strategist ever in the women's game.

Zvereva was/is awesome. Not only did she have a beautifully fluid and clever game, she was also a real character. Remember when she imitated Mary Pierce at the OZ Open?! *must find youtube vid*

WD Vika! :cheer2:

So much for my predictions. Vika v Maria final. Advice for those attending the final - bring your ear muffs along. I'll be backing Vika, which probably means Maria will win.

Good tournament for Kim. First full tournament without retiring injured in over 6 months and ultimately what cost her the match was the lack of match fitness. She showed her true colours in the second set but could not keep it up in the third. That's where the lack of match fitness really told.

Poor show from Petra. She is so much better than that. If she is ever going to realise her true potential, then she needs to get her head down and work on achieving the high standards of play that she is capable of more consistently. That's what the great champions of the past such as Graf, Navratilova, Connolly, the William's (still around - but nearing the end of their careers), etc were able to do. That's what the pundits have been predicting for Kvitova in terms of the new generation. However, she will need to improve enormously on today's effort if she is going to get anywhere near achieving that. Hence, the tag of 'Generation Suck' may be here to stay. In my mind, we may have to wait till the next generation of player(s) - players that have not yet emerged - as next crop of great players. The ATP are really lucky to have a group like Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, and Murray. The WTA have a real problem with the Williams sisters, Clijsters, and Henin all either having already or are about to go off into the sunset. They had better hope Maria's shoulder does not completely go or there will be a real void. We will end up with 4 different major winners every year for the foreseeable future with nobody able to take the ascendancy.

Petra Kvitova has just annoyed me :o How many chances did she actually want before throwing it away?! Ugh.

Well done to Maria. You can never count her out!

Kim's performance was bizarre. Amazing second set to absolutely god-awful and puzzling errors at crucial moments in the third. What an anti-climax it was after that epic 4-2 game, when it seemed Clijsters was back in it and the crowd were going crazy. To be honest, the total lack of support Vika gets actually makes me root for her.

What an ironic final match-up it is, with the recent increase in complaints re: grunting.

I don't think my ears could tolerate an Azarenka/Sharapova final. :scream: One is bad enough.

omg.........no.........no...........NO!!!

Major fan of the Federer Express. However, every time he plays Nadal it's utter torture.

Great play by both, but completely nerve jangling.

1 set all, 6 all 3rd set

Get your earplugs out everyone :D

I actually like both Maria and Vika, so I'm happy about this result. Yes their shrieks are annoying, but Maria is an amazing fighter and player and she's won me over. I'll like this final.

I'd love to see Nadal win this match - but I think Fed has a better chance to beat the Djoker in the final. So I am really torn. And I can't keep watching because I have my surgical skills class in a few minutes. :wuzrobbed

I'm sad that there's that annoying thing called work and can't watch

I can't stand Nadal's game, but he was EXCELLENT tonight. Thoroughly deserved that win.

 @ that BP Roger had 4-5 at the end there. Could have changed everything.

Oh Roger - not again! He just doesn't seem to be able to find a way past Nadal anymore.

Fingers crossed now for Andy Murray.

The problem is his head. Rafa is well and truly inside it.
