If the World Series ends up being the Cardinals vs. the Yankees, I'll be rooting for a zombie apocalypse.
I'd like to thank the Tigers for sparing us this scenario. :cheer2:

Although I'd really hate for the World Series to be between the two worst regular-season teams in the playoffs. Fingers crossed for an epic Giants comeback in the NLCS...

I know, right? :wall:

I don't know if the Giants can pull it off twice, though. The starting pitchng (with the exception of Vogelsong) just hasn't been there.

The Tigers were pacing themselves. :P

(I thought they were done for with a month to go, but then the White Sox imploded. We'll take it, though, and I'm glad they are peaking at the right time. :) )

Thank you very much Detroit for showing those Yankees how it's done. No need to win 90 plus regular season games, no need to go waaaaaay overboard on salaries, no need to have a jerk like A-Rod on your team. I was hoping that game four would be a blowout, kind of the icing on the cake -- and lo and behold, they did just that.
GRRRRRRRROWLLLLLLLLLLL
Go Tigers!

 I'll grant you that one...

The Cards are loathsome, though - no need to have a second wildcard in the playoffs. Being something of a purist I sometimes wonder if even one wildcard is needed, but OTOH, I don't think baseball needs another situation like the 1993 Giants watching the playoffs on TV, exciting as that race was.

Ugh, I usually root for the National League, but I don't think I can root for the Cards this time. Hoping for a miracle for the Giants!

I was at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra concert last night (side note, they played Bolero and I could see Torvill and Dean skating to it in my mind's eye ), and at the very end of the concert the orchestra played Go Get 'Em Tigers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fMqnFQRiUs) and the audience sung the refrain. It was pretty fun.

Loved hearing it after yesterday's win! :)

Too bad the Cards are looking good to advance. :blah: I can see them repeating. Was fun when the Blue Jays did it ages ago, not so much this time.

The Giants have been slain. They just won't go home.

Zito! :cheer2:

When I saw him in spring training, he was terrible. Then he pitched that complete game (!) shutout (!!) in Colorado (!!!) and he's been so much better since then.

And that bunt tonight was sweet. Well done.

Oh, I wanted to mention this. I heard an interview on the radio with Jim Leland today. He talked about 2006 and the problems they had with the long wait between the end of their championship series and the start of the World Series. The same as they have now. In 2006, they did regular work outs at Ford Field (the domed football field), and they felt that they started out very sluggish. This year, starting tomorrow, they will be playing games against the Florida instructional league team (the league just ended) at Comerica Park. At least tomorrow and Sunday. Then they will evaluate what they need to do until the Series starts.

Smart.

ETA - this is, of course, the Tigers I am talkig about.
