Put me on the list that wants them to do something bluesy, sultry, and sexy. I'm not crazy about the YP either, but if anyone can make the most of it, it's V/M.

I think this is good choice for Shibs and D-W. Not good for W-P i think.

It's a shame the polka was chosen, IMO. A fun, high-energy dance, but no emotional depth there. I was hoping for a blues or quickstep-oriented CD. YMMV.

ETA: Doris, you mentioned some of the combinations that were used with the OD polka back in 2003.

Come to think of it, V/M once did a polka/waltz. In their 2007 Golden Skate interview, they were asked about their favourite programs, and Tessa said: "Looking back, I think I liked our original dance in 2004 (our first year junior) the best. It was a waltz/polka and it was so much fun to perform!" That was a great program, but unfortunately is not on Youtube. (I think 2004 was a typo, they did that in 2003, IIRC.)

Sure enough. The juniors had the same OD theme as the seniors that year.

Junior 2002-2003
Westminster Waltz, Silver Samba, Argentine Tango, Blues OD Memories of a Grand Ball: Waltz, Polka, March, and Gallop

The next year was jive/blues/rocknrool/boogie woogie

And do what? The Confederate Polka?

No, I mean, does it strictly have to be a Yankee Polka or can they use anything with the same tempo? That is what I meant when I mentioned the possibility of cheating.

Add me to the growing list of those who would love to see Tessa and Scott skate a Blues FD. Frankly I'm surprised they haven't yet (aside from the CD's). They would totally melt the ice skating to a Blues piece. One of my favorite performances from V&M isn't from a OD/SD or a FD but the Blues CD as performed at 2004 juniors (I think that is the right competition). It was one of the first times I ever saw them compete and I was impressed to say the least.

V&M won't have any issues with the technical part of the Polka OD but I'm having a hard time imagining Scott doing the perky polka. While I agree that the rhythm suits D&W and the Shibs better, I think Tessa will do okay expression wise, Scott may have to work on leaving the intensity behind.

That was beautiful....pure, uncluttered skating, magnificent lines/ leg extentions matching, and deep deep edges......a thing of beauty.

I think Scott will have no problem "leaving the intensity behind" if the program calls for perky :)

Yes, that's it although I had the competition wrong.

:swoon:

Claire you are right and V&M have done more upbeat "perkier" programs before. I'm thinking of the 2004 Juniors OD to rock & roll/jive music. However, for some reason I never really paid that much attention to Scott's or Tessa's facial expressions. The footwork kept pulling my attention from their faces; especially the side by side sequence.

It's funny to go back and see how good V&M were already even though they looked so young, tiny and cute. However there was nothing "cute" about their skating.

As long as Tessa and Scott don't use Blues for Klook, I'm all for them doing a blues program.
