I hate the YP. And I really didn't like Tessa's dress that she wore for it in '08.

I wonder what other rhythms they are going to match with it. Waltz?

I'm betting something completely inappropriate, like the Argentine Tango.

Well that would be an interesting combination!

I'm planning on going to worlds in London next year - not sure I can sit through all those YPs.

i hope they decide to make the selections complement each other. or maybe one rhythm and make it seamless.

PLEASE DO THIS!!!
Seriously though I hate the Yankee Polka. I wonder how much the Shibs paid to have it chosen...

This. Forever.

Does it necessarily have to be a Yankee Polka? Can't they cheat?

darn. i was hoping for a blues sd, with some rock n roll rhythms (swing, jive) in the mix. ;)

Well, a team could, but then they'd get 0 for the YP sequences :slinkaway

They had a polka in the 2003 OD choices for 'grand ball', coupled with a waltz, I think, a march, and I forget what the other choices the teams had were.

Winkler and Lohse picked a polka for part of their dance, AFAIR

Someone compiled a bunch of the 2003 OD's here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMg8ywjbebY

The most memorable grand ball was Denkova & Staviyski's baroque version--which wouldn't be polka.

It was a fun OD in general, I thought at the time.

So I have hopes for this SD.

The juniors have the Blues pattern dance next year.

This has nothing to do with the Yankee Polka or the SD, but I'd LOVE to see V/M do a sexy/sultry sort of blues free dance. I think something like that would play on their connection, but not be any more of the "young love" stuff.

I heartily agree. It would be a departure from any rhythms or genres they've tried yet, but would also capitalize so well on a number of strengths. I've pondered the possibility enough that I'll definitely be disappointed if we never see it come to pass.

It would make an excellent counterbalance to a Yankee Perk-a SD. ;)

Exactly, and you're very right about it being an excellent counterbalance to Yankee Perk.

I'm going to be disapponted as well if we never get to see a blues from them. It's would make me sad the same way I'm sad that I never got to see B/A skate a 1970's themed OD.

Put me on the list that wants them to do something bluesy, sultry, and sexy. I'm not crazy about the YP either, but if anyone can make the most of it, it's V/M.
