I don't think W&P will beat them, but it is a little scary how close they are and how V&M are not benefiting from Nationals inflation (which I'm sure D&W will).

......... It's like the Canadian fed is saying that if V&M are a little off at Worlds, feel free to put them behind P&B, the Shibs, maybe even Bobrova/Soloviev if they skate well (ie, the teams that are considered W&P's direct competition).

maybe the 68 was national inflation and on an international scene, that short dance would barely crack mid-60s?

:yikes: :fragile:

I think I've posted this either up thread here or in the Short Dance thread, but, IMO, even though it was "just" Canadian Nationals, they were still skating against other teams who aren't here and aren't Canadian. They didn't have the GPF they wanted. Much was made about all of their changes, and I think they really wanted to come out on fire, thus the nerves that got the best of them.

I am definitely not going to survive Worlds. I already uber Carolina Kostner, so adding in current V/M, I'm going to need Valium by the time it's all over with.

ITA gerbil. The changes Tessa and Scott are debuting this weekend are the result of the GPF and were made to help them stay in contention at 4CC's and Worlds. They need (needed) to skate well and hope for positive feedback from the judges.

You can borrow some of my valium. I'm going to my happy place.

Yeah she wants Davis and White to win

For the first time and probably the last I'll burst it out.
I think the changes were made to make the program weaker and not stronger. And after Scott's statements after the GPF, no wonder.

For me, they need to go,a new coach is new inspiration most of the times

Now burn me at the stake:rofl:

Molly, you in danger girl! :P

I do agree though. :shuffle:

I may need some to make it through the next several hours. I haven't been this nervous in forever for skaters, and I never thought I'd be this nervous over V/M, especially at Canadian Nationals.

They love their FD, and even with changes, I expect they're still going to be pretty comfortable with it. I think they'll be fine.

i'll be watching.

I'm going to go curl up in the fetal position for the next hour. ;)

brief glimpse: no change in costumes

Oh, so much better! I especially loved the section just preceeding the dance spin. It's been changed and I think it's much better... less standing and dancing in one spot. There are little changes, just a little bit more skating rather than standing dancing, but I think they really helped. Undecided about the first lift change... will have to look again.

Haven't seen it, but one judge gave them straight 10s.

01-22-2012, 02:02 AM
they had a deduction -1.0 ...for what?

01-22-2012, 02:03 AM
they were good weaver and poje were just better tonight i don`t like the changes they made plus they did not get a season`s best in either program.

tracy was mad about yesterday's marks. she thought they were undermarked and the judges were far too hard. she says that she's not alone in feeling that. when the fd finished and they're doing replays, she kept commenting that tessa and scott are underappreciated. "the details! look at their details! they don't grab, the hold gently. they finish their movement." in the wrap up, same thing -- let's appreciate tessa and scott. rod's tries to bring weaver and poje into it, but tracy just kept going back to tessa and scott.

here are the protocols:

as for the changes, they actually improved the program. good. a little costume change: tessa tried to do her eyebrows like audrey's.

Was a good skate.......buuuuut......here I go again but I have to speak the truth of how I feel so here goes.........

I just can't see this program as a "masterpiece" as the commentator said, I also don't see this as a world championship program, I don't jump up at the end & think omg that was amazing, it is lacking something still imo.

I actually felt Weaver & Poje had the better FD tonight & it moved me & made me want to stand at the end, it's brilliant!:D

& can I just say that Andrew Poje is the most gorgeous male ice dancer in the world right now, omg he is beautiful!:swoon:

Weaver/Poje also had a great skate. I think their program has more of an emotional attachment to it, that music alone wins you over, but I think V/M were better at dancing.

The top teams were all great, especially the top 3. Usually I"m bored watching dance at Nationals until the final team, but I was interested in the entire final flight.

And yeah, Andrew Poje is not hard on the eyes, lol.

I can't wait to see the program.
