My sympathies go to Mao and the rest of the Asada family. Mrs. Asada was so young. How sad. :( :( :(

:(Mao. I must say that I truly respect the fact that the Japanese press restrained from printing news about Mao's mom illness for all of this time. Asada's a huge star in Japan, but they allowed her to have a private life, and I respect that. My prayers and thoughts are with Asada and her family at this time.

There's a long list of ladies competitors who have had their mothers pass away while they were competing (Kirk, Nikodinov, Rochette...) and it breaks my heart every time. :( :(

My thoughts are definitely with the Asada family.

Far too young, and I'm so sad for Mao that she couldn't be there to say goodbye. :( Much love to all the family.

I remember a television special after the Olympics where Mai showed up on a talk show Mao was doing. Mai read a letter to Mao from their mother, in which her mother expressed her pride in Mao and her silver medal. They were both crying, and I'm sure Mao wasn't completely satisfied with her silver. But a mom knows the right thing to say.. I am so sorry for Mao and her family. I can't even imagine the pain she is going through.
