I just heard that Mao's mother passed away Friday morning due to liver cirrhosis.
Her mother was 48 years old. So, so sad. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family. :(:(:(

Given that Mrs. Asada passed away this morning Japanese time, Mao was probably still on board the flight home. :(

This article from Yomiuri Shimbun (http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20111209-00001253-yom-spo) says that Mrs. Asada's condition had worsened over the summer and she had been in and out of hospital since.
