Thanks, clarie.

I think I'm liking this new program...

Yeah but which one, Patrick, the short or the free?;)

I take it he's also enjoying the music Buttle or Wilson has picked for him and it's good to hear that because I remember Chan said he couldn't quite relate to the Phantom of the Opera theme a couple years back.

Can anyone locate the rink he was training at in the facebook photo?

I was wondering about that too, VarBar. Curious to know whether he's training in Colorado or Toronto or elsewhere?

I was lurking around Yuna's forum before, and someone found that it was Sports Village near Toronto.

^^^ great job Naan!:respec:

Patrick's great fan posted this on GS. Bringing it over here. http://www.fairchildtv.com/otherarchive_more.php?program_id=1
(line 14). I think it's a chinese t.v. program from Vancouver and interview is conducted in Cantonese by the interviewer though Patrick's English response is self-explanatory. The download comes in three parts:

Part 1: http://www.fairchildtv.com/otherarchive_pop.php?f=956_1764.wmv
How he felt about winning the 2012 World gold medal; his 2011 performance in Moscow; whether the 2011 Worlds delay affected his performance; how does he feel for not being able beat his own 2011 World record in Nice; how and when did he get interested in competitive figure skating; how did his parents affect his interest in sports; what languages are spoken at home and what language he is currently most comfortable with; his approach to training.

Part 2:http://www.fairchildtv.com/otherarchive_pop.php?f=956_1765.wmv
His experience and failure to podium in 2010 Olympics; how did his past experience affect his current outlook; his quad success; which quad is the most difficult; his training schedule; how has his modern dance training helped him; his input into the choreography; where does he get his inspiration in his programs/music;

Part 3: http://www.fairchildtv.com/otherarchive_pop.php?f=956_1766.wmv
Does he feel bored/tired with his training; does he feel the pressure when competing; what goes on in his mind when he is poised to start his program and when he turns in the air during his jumps; how do his failures affect his programs; why does he train in Colorado; is he affected by resources (financial) for training; what are his other interests when he is not training/competing; what are his plans for future after competitive skating;

Me too! I was 10 and it was the first opera my mom took me to...what personal nostalgia!

Does anyone know who else has skated to La Boheme?

Is PJ or anyone else at High Performance Camp telling us who Patrick's new coach is? Unless the 'new' coach is Kathy Johnson and there's actually nothing new to announce about the coaching.:rolleyes:

http://www.thespec.com/sports/article/794049--chan-hopes-to-add-more-quad-jumps-to-his-repertoire

And so he wants to be ready. He’ll do the flips and Salchows in practices on the Grand Prix circuit — a big step because judges and other skaters are watching every single move during those sessions, and you need to be confident and prepared with any new element — and, if he’s happy with the consistency, perhaps he’ll include one of the new quads in his free skate in January’s Canadian championships at Mississauga’s Hershey Centre.

And, if it goes well there, he could fire his technical shot across the bow at the world championships in London (that would be the Ontario one) in March.

Chan is coached by modern dance teacher Kathy Johnson, who had been assuming a larger role with the Canadian skating star last season. With Johnson, Chan said he's able to take on more responsibility for his training.

"(Krall) was a great help at that point in my career," Chan said. "I'm really glad I've made this next step working with Kathy, just me and her, it's been really great, much more relaxed. . .

"With Christy, she kind of directed and dictated what was going to happen. It's been a great transition, it's my time to kind of take over. It's not like Kathy is asking me what I should be doing, it's just happening, I'm at that age where I'm deciding that 'OK this is how I feel is going to be good for me and this is what I feel is going to be more of an advantage later in the season,'. . . how I train, how I rest, etc."

Chan has also split with longtime choreographer Lori Nichol. His new short program, to music by Rachmaninoff, was choreographed by former world champion Jeff Buttle while David Wilson choreographed his long program, to Italian opera "La Boheme."

"It was a good change after five years of working with Lori. We left on mutual terms, she's always there to help me," Chan said. "But I wanted to do this, and I thought this was the right time going into Sochi. I wanted to know that I could work with other choreographers, that it doesn't have to be one singular recipe."

That's great Naan. Hae Jin's a budding skater and she looks great in her red dress.

Here's a pix of Patrick with coach Kathy.

I think that Hae Jin Kim skates to orchestral version of Charles Aznavour's song (http://youtu.be/Oj-3hk2L7MQ), not Puccini's opera :)

Thanks for links and info, everyone!

spikydurian, I'm afraid I can't help you because I don't know which parts of Puccini's opera David Wilson selected for Chan.

Did you notice Browning behind Patrick watching over him?;)

Yes, indeed.

Proustable, thank you for the two articles you brought here. So, if Chan gets the consistency he's looking for on the 4F and/or 4S, what do you think his jump content is going to be in the free skate, 4T/3T, 4F or 4S, 3A and the rest of the triple jumps + a 2A?

Will the skaters get a 10% bonus for the jumps which are done in the second half of the short program as of this current season or the season following the Olympic season?

As far as PChiddy choosing Johnson over Krall, I have to trust him that he made the right decision, what else can I do...
