Thank goodness for this thread. I hope the haterz stay out and don't polute it with their unfounded vitriol. I find it incomprehensible that whatever Patrick says is twisted and spun to suit their hatred. What has Patrick ever done to them, exept perhaps beat their favorites. It always reminds me a a flock of vultures ready to pounce. Anyway, I'm sending out good vibes to Patrick and the rest of his fans for this weekend :)

Oh Chiddy, what a fiasco. I don't hold it against you. Sometimes we say things (and we all have people) that don't come out the way we mean them and we all know the media likes to twist things. Anyway forget it. Makes me sad that he read some of the hurtful things people said, like they're so perfect. The haters will always hate so go out and do your thing and don't worry about it, it'll blow over. Make Canada and yourself proud. GO PADDY!

I like him even more because of his honesty. He never gives us the contrived responses that we often get in FS (and i don't blame those who do, as fans can really turn on you when you try to express an opinion that may go against the popular one--not to mention the negative effects this could have on your funding from sponsors, etc.) I love hockey too, but am sick and tired of seeing it grab all the attention here in Canada. midnight broadcasts for figure skating, really? I have even seen an encore broadcast of hockey take priority over an FS event on CBC.
I wanted so badly to take up FS as a kid but could not because my immigrant parents hadn't the means to pay for very expensive lessons and equipment (i finally got to take basic lessons as a teenager with used skates but could not continue because I could not afford lessons).

Well I´m not going into the pbp thread  But dispite his Midori Ito moment he was really flying out there tonight. It's been a rough few days, nice to see the guts he had going out there and giving it his all :cheer:

LOL, well he almost knocked himself dead with the crash into the boards on the 4-3 combo but he held it together after that. The quad was gorgeous. Too bad he ran out of room for the landing of the 3toe.
Hope he can skate his LP well tomorrow.

I thought it was nice how the audience responded to him as well. Betwee that and how he skated (board crash aside), it must be a bit of a load off after the last couple of days (which had to have been draining for him). :)

Hope so to. I'm thinking the crowd support tonight might have relieved any anxiety he might have had over that article when it comes to the reception he gets.

Or his Yagudin moment for that matter. So, one can say Patrick is in good company. lol

I could watch all the GPF men on TV earlier today and had no doubt in my mind Patrick was the better skater out there yesterday. The speed and flow he was carrying with his blade was amazing and he made everything look so efortless and relaxed. As usual as a matter of fact.
As soon as he hit the boards, I thought, " he did a Midori!" That shows how big and fast he was skating last night, the ultimate compliment when it comes to jumping, for me. i don't think I've seen him fly quite so much as on that combination.

I thought Patrick was sweet thanking the audience last night. He seems to be loved very well in Canada.
