There is no question that Mannish boy has come a long way. The two programs are the opposite of each other but they just draw you in differently.

Thank you so much, vigiliae (hope you had fun at the show—I sure had fun viewing your awesome photos!), totoro8673 (hope you also had a wonderful time at the show!), clarie, idee123, Sylvia, jl22aries, spikydurian, skatesindreams, VarBar and RunnersHigh for the tweets, reports, photos, and videos, and thank you everyone for all the interesting info and discussion. I have really enjoyed catching up on this thread.

He has nice legs (I'm a "leg gal"). He's an adorable young man with a great smile. I hope I get a chance to see him skate "live" again someday, because he isn't done yet and is getting better all the time. ...

mmmhmmm...such a cutie!
I agree, he just gets better and better. I hope you will get to see him live again someday:)

...
"Elegy" is the masterpiece. Needless to say.
But I notice that "Mannish boy" has developed dramatically. Spectacular progress of subtle movements. Well done to Kathy! And the enthusiastic Korean crowd definitely cranked it up. Thank you Korea, Yuna and David. What a great show!

Quite frankly, I am still mesmerized with Patrick's Mannish Boy as seen in the fan video. The wild abandonment to skating in that performance just takes my breath away. Patrick Chan on the ice is like a fish in the water.
...
Absolutely. I can't be grateful enough to the Korean fans for their work. If it hadn't been for them, we wouldn't have had any Elegie at all.

I honestly think this is another artistic breakthrough for Patrick. He is really breathing through the choreography and taking his time to get every ounce of meaning out of each movement or series of movements. I cannot get over how mobile his upper body is...he has really opened it up. And his hands and fingers are beautiful. And he has strengthened his connection to the audience. WOW.

As a Patrick uber :), I want to thank all those fans who posted videos that I never would have gotten to see otherwise. The Korean audience is spoiling these skaters. They are such a great audience!.

Agree clarie. Thanks for taking the trouble to find the vids and uploading them here. What can I say about Korean audience? Every skater wants to go back to skate in Korea. So much fun, support and appreciation from the wonderful audience.

agree completely. I love, love, love the Korean fans, and am so grateful for all the vids.

btw, YuNa was awesome! I love that number! and Patrick said "good job" to her at the end of the program and she smiled an nodded. so cute:)
also great to see Alissa enjoying herself. such a beautiful skater.

Enjoy it. Day 3

Mannish Boy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOXXCAmW_84&hd=1&feature=plcp)

I set the link with HD option but if it doesn't work, set the video quality by yourself. ;)
And the channel provides a lot more.

ETA.
Highlight HD of Alissa's La Vie En Rose, Hae-jin Kim's Moonlight sonata and V/T's I'll always love you. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehFAC15CQuU&hd=1) <-- buffer expected. :(
Allisa's I like the way you move MBC HD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECpjewXRbDQ&hd=1)Thank you - I hadn't seen that highlight video. Had seen all the rest, though. Those videos from silkroadpark are truly wonderful - thanks to him/her :).

WOW.I agree - Patrick really has become much better. But still too much Jeffrey Buttle in his 'Elegie' for me. 'Mannish Boy' is fun, though (and he moves really well in it, as you wrote) - and I can't say that there is that much Kurt Browning in it :). Isn't it strange, how we are made? With our minds we understand that someone is good, talented and so on, we even like what he/she does, but still we may feel that something is lucking (not in general, but for us personally) - just that "little", but very significant "bit" that would make us devoted fans. That's how it is with me and Patrick - I realize how good he is, but he doesn't make me feel nearly us much as Stephane Lambiel (my absolutely favourite skater), or even Daisuke Takahashi, Jeffrey Buttle, Jeremy Abott and Johnny Weir. Sorry for mentioning those other skaters in Patrick's 'Uber' thread, but that's the way I feel :shuffle:. Probably Patrick's just not the kind of personality that could truly touch me - at least yet (and I am not saying anything bad about him as a person).

No worries, lauravvv, after all feelings are subjective and personal just like music and art.;)

lauravvv, who says you should become a devoted fan of Patrick? I too haven't been enjoying quite a few champions or medallists of figure skating and I've never developed a guilty conscience over it because I know that I can't dictate my heart. But since I don't have all the time in the world to watch figure skating, I choose to focus on those skaters who truly touch me one way or another and Patrick happens to be one of them. And me going to the uber thread of another skater I don't particularly like to tell his fans that their favorite doesn't do much to me, just give me one good reason why I'd want to do that? To let them know there however are people who don't share their tastes? Sorry but I don't think any of us here on this message board is as dellusional as to believe his favorite skater is loved by everybody else.

Thanks. This has to be my favorite Elegie performance from Korea. Is it just me thinking the blue navy blouse works better for this theme than the red one?

To let them know there however are people who don't share their tastes? Sorry but I don't think any of us here on this message board is as dellusional as to believe his favorite skater is loved by everybody else.I actually wanted to show that even people to whom Patrick "doesn't do much" can appreciate how good he is and can like his skating (otherwise I wouldn't come into this thread at all, wouldn't complain that there are too little videos with Patrick's 'Elegie', and wouldn't later post one of them when it came up). But, yes, it came out the wrong way - I probably should have written that differently.

As much as I like "Elegy", I'm really warming up to "Mannish Boy". He couldn't have chosen two better programs to show his progress in the entertainment factor, but also showing his skating skills. I don't ususally like "show" programs but these are awsome. More, more, and more for next year.
