Having seen 2/3 Elegy performances I'm baffled as to why it was cut from the taped show. There was speculation that Patrick had a fall which appears not to be the case. So why would they choose to cut the current and two time World Champion's performance? :confused:What seabm7 wrote. Also, it seems that their usual practice is to simply cut some performances from the beginning of the first half, without any consideration who and what program that is. It seems that a different TV company covered 'All That Skate' in the two previous years, but it was pretty much the same with last year's 'ATS Summer'. They cut out Kurt Browning's first program, which, in my opinion, was one of the highlights of that show - great entertainment and art in one. And that despite him being one of the greatest figure skating legends and, still, one of the greatest performers, who was also one of the best received skaters at that show. They also cut out Sarah Meier's program, although it was her only program there (she was meant to do two, but had a trauma - despite that, she still skated it well, and was quite entertaining and well received). The same happened this year. They apparently don't know much about figure skating, and don't care how famous and titled a skater is, how good that program is and of other such things.

I think only Patrick and Alissa ended up with one programme being broadcast while all the others (even the acrobats) had both, am I right?
No, Volosozhar and Trankov's first program was also cut out.

Two Three more programs were cut. Hae-Jin Kim, V/T, and Jin-Seo Kim's. The acrobats were shown twice because they opened AND closed the 2nd Act before the final.

In summary, MBC cut away No. 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 from the 1st Act, which correspond to roughly the front half of the Act. No. 6 survived, which was Carolina's. I guess they had some soft spot for her.

lauravvv & seabm7, thanks for the clarification. It is unfortunate that MBC didn't broadcast the whole show.

Hae-Jin Kim, V/T, and Jin-Seo Kim's.You're right. I didn't watch the whole show/stream and I had noticed Ha-Jin Kim's and Jin-Seo Kim's videos somewhere on Youtube, but those were fan videos.

Aww... I like the pictures of young Patrick. He paid tributes to Colson and his parents for what he is today.

lauravvv & seabm7, thanks for the clarification. It is unfortunate that MBC didn't broadcast the whole show.

As you may know, I had always been Yuna's ice show for last 5 yrs.
What I got to know was Yuna's Ice show used to last 150 mins including 20 mins intermission when it aired - when not aired, it lasted 10 to 15 mins longer.

But airtime always limited to 120 mins. Lack of 10 mins? No.
The program sold all commercials planned as usual. This time MBC sold 43 commercials out and it's about 15 mins if it ran 20 secs each.

105 mins is a lack of 25 mins.
Even if MBC cut the skaters' introduction and some part of curtain call, it's still a lack of 17~18 mins. At least, 5 to 6 skaters had to be cut. :(

But you need not to be upset, Korean fans massproduced HQ fancams! Didn't they? And some fancams were much better than aired.

They didn't quite "massproduce" Patrick's 'Elegie' - I have yet to see a video of his first day performance of it, and also the only video from the second day is not of good quality :(. As for Alissa Czisny and Volosozhar/Trankov, there is one very bad quality video of Alissa's performance and no video of V/T's first program at all.

They cut performances of 1 lady(Czisny), 1 man(Chan), 1 pair(V/T), Haejin Kim from Act I.
Bold parts below.
(Performances from Act II were broadcasted fully. seabm7, Jinseo Kim's performance was broadcasted.)
Chan just was unlucky.

Act I.
1. Opening... Avatar Mix
2. Alissa Czisny... La Vie En Rose
3. Haejin Kim... Moonlight Sonata
4. Tatiana Volosozhar & Maxim Trankov... I will always love you
5. Patrick Chan... Elegie in E Flat Minor
6. Carolina Kostner... Hallelujah
7. Jinseo Kim... FANTASTIC BABY
8. Stephane Lambiel... My Body Is A Cage
9. Shen Xue & Zhao Hongbo... Tian Xia Wu Shuang
10. Evan Lysacek... The Climb
11. Jamie Sale & David Pelletier... Who Wants to Live Forever
12. Yuna Kim... All Of Me

They showed the highlights of Act I at the beginning of Act II. Chan's Elegie too was shown about 30 seconds(including 3A part).
Despite a glimpse, that performance was a gem. So I got more angry.

VarBar, thanks for looking out for my mental well being.;) I'm very pleased with Patrick's 3A's in both performances. What's even more impressive is how little set-up he had before the jumps.

Patrick never telephoning any of his jumps was one thing I noticed about him - adding to his incredibly effortless skating - when I watched him at 2009 Canadians and made me think he was a special skater and was worth of my support.:kickass:

Do you think we have Jin-Seo to thank for Patrick's 3A's? Coz I understood these two sort of challenged each other with the 3A.

Quite frankly, I am still mesmerized with Patrick's Mannish Boy as seen in the fan video. The wild abandonment to skating in that performance just takes my breath away. Patrick Chan on the ice is like a fish in the water.

Thank you to totoro for the new video links, the press conference was a blast.

Absolutely. I can't be grateful enough to the Korean fans for their work. If it hadn't been for them, we wouldn't have had any Elegie at all.

Mannish Boy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JOXXCAmW_84&hd=1&feature=plcp)

I set the link with HD option but if it doesn't work, set the video quality by yourself. ;)
And the channel provides a lot more.

ETA.
Highlight HD of Alissa's La Vie En Rose, Hae-jin Kim's Moonlight sonata and V/T's I'll always love you. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehFAC15CQuU&hd=1) <-- buffer expected. :(
Allisa's I like the way you move MBC HD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECpjewXRbDQ&hd=1)

As a Patrick uber :), I want to thank all those fans who posted videos that I never would have gotten to see otherwise. The Korean audience is spoiling these skaters. They are such a great audience!.

Agree clarie. Thanks for taking the trouble to find the vids and uploading them here. What can I say about Korean audience? Every skater wants to go back to skate in Korea. So much fun, support and appreciation from the wonderful audience.
