Thanks idee123. I managed to see it. Poor Patrick, he was trying his best. Kudos that at least he understood what he was being asked. One cheeky journalist tried to test his Cantonese language skill to which he responded "I don't know how to say it".
The girls must be queuing up to take pictures with him. :P
Wonder whether Lu Chen and Petrov were at the show since she managed a skating rink in Shenzhen?

Yes, I heard Patrick can understand Cantonese but he dosen't speak it well.

If his mother speaks to Patrick in Cantonese, Chan speaks in english.
That's what I heard. :)

So...In this video His Cantonese language skill is better than I expected :P

Thnx for posting that idee123. Patrick is a very accomplished young man. He did just fine with the Cantonese. I heard he was learning Mandarin as well. His french is fluent, but he speaks it with a bit of an English accent. He's looking good and seems relaxed and happy. I sure am looking forward to next season and am extremely curious as to what he chooses for programs.

Yes the young man continues to impress me each step he takes on and off the ice. He is a great representative for us Canadians.

That is alright. It is a phenomena for kids born and brought up in a non-mother tongue environment. And language is such that unless you hear, read, write and speak it everyday, it is unlikely one will reach a high proficiency level. I think it was wise of Mr Chan to send Patrick to a French-immersion school as that is the only way Patrick will reach a reasonably good level of French, thus being able to master both French and English at the same time. Language is such that you don't use it, you will lose it.

Clarie, I am also dying to know Patrick's new program/s. He said he asked Jeff to choreo his Ex. So I wonder whether he still will ask Jeff to choreo one of his programs? And also whether he will get a co-coach to Kathy Johnson ... at least a technical coach? Feels like it's pretty hectic now .. one skate show after another.

Idee, please continue to post any news from his skates shows. And thanks for the above links again.

Thanks, idee123. I had forgotten all about this event Sylvia alerted this thread on a few pages back if I am not mistaken, I thought Patrick was fully enjoying a well-deserved vacation now, miles away from skating and ice rinks. lol
Couldn't make the video of his interview in Cantonese play much as I tried, maybe someone will put it onto youtube someday.

Looks like spins are quite the highlights of figure skating programs for the Chinese audiences.:)
Not happy to see Patrick fall on the axel, lol, but his ice coverage is just amazing.:swoon: Thanks, vigiliae.

It may look sort of hectic to us but I have this gut feeling Patrick has known in quite a while what the purpose of his more frequent visits to Toronto is.;)

I see you what you mean VarBar that the audience likes spins. The vid is all about spins. Maybe, it's easier to take videos when they were spinning than skating? :P

Yes, just hope he is not tiring himself out. Hope he will pace his training to peak at the most important time. :)

He said he doesn't know who is new coach is in the interview vid? That's a bit worrying to me. :(

Oh yes, thanks Vigiliae for the Shenzhen vid.

Thank you so much for the vids.
From the English part of the interview, it seems clear that Patrick won't work with Lori (otherwise he won't answer "secret") .

It's good to have a different choreographer for a change to discover new "Patrick" but I sincerely hope that he won't break way with Lori.

Besides, I wonder Patrick is really looking for a new (main) coach. Considering the pleasant relationship he enjoys with Kathy, it would be difficult to find another coach who would take the main role.

Sorry for my gloomy comment. I hope my concern will prove unfounded. Looking forward to see his dazzling smile at ATS.

I listened to the vid again. I thought he was asked something like 'new program'? Unfortunately, there was too much background noise hence the query wasn't very clear.

I agree. I don't think if he does get another coach, he/she will not be the 'main' coach .. maybe a technical specialist or co-coaching with Kathy? Is Kathy qualified as coach? I thought she's a dance specialist?
Oh well, we will have to wait for the news from the horse's mouth! :)

The bottom line: He needs a qualified coach!!!! He can't go to Sochi with just a dance instructor who doesn't know the technical side of figure skating. I sure do hope he finds one soon and starts getting ready for the new season..This off-season is pretty short.
