Does any one else ever wonder why Patrick didn't stay in Toronto and go to Brian at the time of Mr. Colson's passing or since?

Isn't it because of Mr. Colson's relationship w/ Cricket club? I remember a poster saying soething like that in another thread. Apparently Mr. Colson had to move to Granite club since his relationship with Cricket went bad and he never went back even after Brian took the leading role. I'm not saying he had personal issues with Brian(I highly doubt so) but I cannot imagine Patrick moving back to Cricket right after Mr. Colson passed away, based on the situation.

BTW I looooooooove this thread! I am tired of all the bitching out there and forced myself being away from the whole forum. Finally a place to rest!

Based on what I have read, the impression I get is that Patrick’s relationship with Mr Colson was more than coach-student (they were more like a family with Mr. Colson being a ‘grandfatherly figure’?). Patrick seems to refer to Mr Colson so very often each time he competed in major competitions like Worlds. With this unique relationship in mind, I agree with vigiliae that Patrick and family would do what they thought Mr Colson would do.

Welcome back. I agree. Threads and forums for reasonable and civil discussions, agreements and disagreements. That’s why most of us join forums in the first place.

I bought a telephoto lens just in case. (Sadly I don't take photographs well.)
A big thank you totoro8673. You a gem :respec:. Don’t worry re. taking bad pictures. Practice makes perfect. We won’t complain! :)

The executive director of All that Skate is David Wilson again this time. Chan's choreographer? I don't know well but I believe that Chan would do a great job with any choreographer!
Thanks. Sorry for the miscommunication. I actually meant the ‘director of the skating show’. You have given me the answer.

But I think Chantastics will record his image with their camera and put it up on Youtube.

Looking forward to reports from the show.
The program sounds wonderful.

It's interesting that Patrick is skating to Wilson's choreo and Jeff's at the same time. Both programs shows different charms of Patrick which is great. Here's another expectation for videos!

This is one of my favorite Chan vids.

Kid Chan was super cute! And smart-looking.

Patrick already had a working relationship with Ellen Burka and Doug Leigh, and I heard that Camp Yu-Na started talks with Orser about an exclusive deal that same summer, although she did not move until about 6-8 months later, so he was not taking new students. Plus, I think Team Chan was looking for a coach that had already produced an Olympic Champion.

idee123, thank you so much for the clip and photos. This is the first time I hear Patrick speak in Cantonese, have to commend him for the effort as I know many US or Canada born Chinese cannot speak any Cantonese at all.

By the way, Shenzhen and Hong Kong are two different cities.

Very true indeed and this also apply to a very high percentage of overseas-born Chinese in other countries. :D But I did hear him speak one sentence during the last Canadian Chinese fund-raising event for Patrick. :)

Thanks idee123. I managed to see it. Poor Patrick, he was trying his best. Kudos that at least he understood what he was being asked. One cheeky journalist tried to test his Cantonese language skill to which he responded "I don't know how to say it".
The girls must be queuing up to take pictures with him. :P
Wonder whether Lu Chen and Petrov were at the show since she manages a skating rink in Shenzhen?
