Hi. Brezina said about Patrick in a recent interview. So..here it is :)

Moderator: And what about the relationships between elite figure skaters? Is there a place for friendships?

Michal: Yes, there is. I have many friends, not only from my category, but also from other categories, my best friends is Ondrej Hotárek, he represents Italy, but he is from Brno and then also the others, for example Daisuke Takahashi or Patrick Chan. But it’s really difficult to get to Patrick, because he is always focused on competition, but when you start to talk with him, he is a nice guy.

Wow, Patrick really doesn't seem to be travelling light, does he? lol
His sincere beaming smile always puts me in a good mood and I am glad to hear the rude part of the audience in Nice booing the medal ceremony didn't get him upset too much.

And think that Chan's haters say Patrick is arrogant. Those people must have spent way more time around him than Daisuke who seems to be enjoying Patrick's presence or Fernandez or Brezina, that's how they know better what kind of a person Patrick is and they can't be fooled so easily.

Thanks, idee123. Michal seems like a nice guy too.:)

Thanks Sylvia. I think Lu Chen owns/runs an ice rink in Shenzhen?

And thanks idee123 for the interview with Michal.

Anyone has an idea whether there will be live telecast/streaming for the Worlds Trophy?

It's those pressure pants - I'm sure they take up the biggest suitcase all on their own. :D

lol You could be right, Skate Talker.

I was actually thinking Patrick might have been lucky at blackjack in Monte Carlo and might have done some big time shopping with the money afterwards. He did say while being in Nice that he wanted to make a one-day trip to Monaco and added he didn't know if he was dressed well enough for a casino. I think he was, however I suggest he should carry a suit and tie in his luggage wherever he goes just in case from now on, like Scott Moir seems to do.:hat1:

I am a bit surprised Chan's haters haven't used that piece of information against him to start spreading the rumor he is a gambling addict but it's never too late for them to, is it?

... I'm pretty sure they used the gambling discussion (he mentioned he went to Vegas for his birthday) as a demonstration of how entitled and bratty he was, actually.

 Patrick did joke after his Vegas trip that he might decide to be a 'full time gambler', and he added .. 'you all will write about it'.

Oh yes, Proustable is right. The hatez had already make his going to Vegas for his 21st birthday a sneering discussion. I think the hatez linked his going to Vegas to the bru-ha-ha misquote in December that since he is 'poor' he shouldn't have gone to Vegas! (something to this effect .. not the same words).

True, Bournekraatzfan. I am a late-comer to skating forums, and was shocked to read the ‘cattiness’ in some threads. I had brick bats thrown at me when I spoke out against ‘these people’. :( I find it hard to understand why fandom can be taken to this extreme. (When I have more time on hand, I will search the electronic library for psychology/behavioural sicence journals and articles relating to ‘mad fandom’.)

Meanwhile, I am happy, like you, to share my interests with like-minded people. Just like in reality we tend to gravitate towards friends who share similar interests, passions and philosophy in life. :)

Clarie, thank you for your first hand report on your encounter with Tess, Scott and Patrick. Indeed, I hope these two elite and great skaters (Patrick and Dai) will not succumb to the played-up rivalry and nasty biting by some fans.

yikes! i'm sorry that happened to you. yeah, those ppl don't seem to take too kindly to being called out. 'mad fandom,' indeed. i hope you have much more positive experiences on these boards from now on. it's good to chat with you:)

and yes, thank you, clarie, for sharing that story. I always enjoy hearing about skaters' interactions with fans. I am so jealous! I wish I hadn't frozen when I saw Patrick in person...he was so close, but I couldn't work up the courage to say hello. missed opportunity. I do hope I get to meet him someday.

is anyone here going to WTT?

Margaret Garrison skaters List is up and Patrick is not mentioned so he likely not coming for it. Sad as its a great chance to see him up close.

I shall have to wait for Nationals and of of course Worlds.
