As Patrick says you only have control over your own skate.Hope he goes all out and has a great skate.
Yep.

If he leaves the door open - some of the later skates will be so excited that they may fall through it instead of skating through it.
:D

If it was a free program draw, I'd agree with you. But I don't think the same logic of 'going for broke' applies to a short program. They are either already planning those elements or they will play it safe regardless of Chan. If they 'go for broke' when they weren't already planning to, they could screw themselves over for the free. Same with holding back- even if Chan does do a poor short, they can't count on not needing a lead for the long. They are going to stick to their plan for the short.

Now, if he drew that in the free, exactly what you said would happen.

I believe some skaters already have TWO plans in mind, one to go for broke, meaning attempting the quad. The other is to play it safe. Now the draw is helping them. Chan skates so early that those guys have tones to time to decide. If Chan skates poorly, they can get ahead with a clean skate of triple jumps. If Chan skates well, they will be far behind anyway, so may try the quads to close the gap.

Jason Dungjen, Abbott's coach had some very complimentary things to say about Patrick's skating/PCS and ITA. :)

Sending Patrick good vibes for the SP tonight. From the practice reports it seems he is having trouble with the quad... hope he pulls it out tonight even if Kristy has to call on divine intervention

Phew he got through with a bobble and a step out on the rotated quad. A new SB of course considering the previous SB was at 4CC where he went splat on the quad.

Patrick definitely looked nervous so hope this skate let him shake off the nerves for the LP.

Our boy did OK - I had my heart in my mouth.

I thought is was just a rough landing and not a step out.

The bobble made me more afraid as for a moment - he thought and I thought - he may go down.

Brezina had a stellar skate.

Patrick will have to bring it in the long... and he will!

I made it in the door, turned on the t.v. and their was Patty. Didn't even get my coat off. He was very good not great. Brezina was fabulous, very happy for him. Takahashi was good. Verner and Abbott...ya, here we go again, it's a damn shame. Wish I'd seen Kevin heard he was good, and low and behold Brian Joubert is back in the game.

Anyway Patrick needs a great skate, it's close, but I have no doubt he can do it and hope he does leaving no question who deserves the title...still I'm nervous.
