Sources in Philly say that it is terminal... (http://articles.philly.com/2011-11-05/news/30363986_1_evander-holyfield-ali-and-frazier-george-foreman)

During his boxing career, Leslie Wolff said Joe Frazier never stopped fighting.

And Wolff said he has no reason to think he'll stop now.

On Saturday afternoon, it was confirmed that the former heavyweight champion and Philadelphia boxing icon was in serious condition after being diagnosed with liver cancer.

"We're looking for some miracles," said Wolff, Frazier's business manager. "When you're dealing with the Big C, it's not an easy thing to deal with."

The 67-year-old Frazier was diagnosed a month ago and is currently in hospice care in Philadelphia. He was living in a Center City apartment complex.

"He's under medical care, getting his treatments that hopefully will help," said Wolff. "It's extremely serious, I'm asking everyone to pray for him."

In a career that sprawled almost 20 years, Frazier recorded a 32-4-1 record. He went on to win two heavyweight titles, while facing off against the likes of Muhammad Ali, George Foreman and Jerry Quarry.

He's best known for his series of bouts with Ali during the 1970's.

He may have lacked Ali's charisma and good looks, but he will always be known as one of the boxers who beat him...I know that he's had financial troubles recently too....some of his business ventures went belly-up. So sad.
Very few people survive cancer of the liver :fragile:.

I know...I still can't believe it. And he is a very nice person, always friendly to fans, and has always appreciated being remembered.

One can't escape suffering in life. It's just different for each person....... Sad for him....it must always be tough to deal with it when it happens.

Too bad this wasn't discovered earlier. Liver cancer is very hard to detect. There are some experimental therapies that are working. God bless hospice care workers and Joe.

An iconic figure in sports. Ali treated Frazier so badly for a while. Many don't know after Ali was stripped of his license to box, Frazier helped Ali out financially.

This morning I read the news on this board, and tonight I watched the news on espn. That was very fast. Probably it was not detected early, or may be this is one of those cancers that are hard to detect.

R.I.P. Joe Frazier.

Poor guy :( Rough life, rough death. I hope that whatever is on the next plane for him is something his class and integrity deserves. RIP Mr. Frazier.
