Thanks for the link. I am not in love with the pink dress. I would have preferred the original one without the pleats.

I'm not a fan of it either, which is why it didn't make my list. I mean, it's not horrible, but even with the pink, it's just boring.

I don't mind her dress.
I would have preferred it without the pleats.

Catherine's not the focus of the day; so, she doesn't call attention to herself.

I assume that anything too flashy would have landed her off to eat with the corgis. This was the Queen's event and one does not upstage the Queen!

Not accusing anyone here, this is by all means based on the rest of the internet: I think people give very little consideration to the many rules and restrictions both written and unwritten that determine Kate's wardrobe choices.

And now for the dinner! Sadly, no tiaras here either *sigh*. This isn't a best-dressed list though... just showing what everyone is wearing. The list will come later. This list is incomplete & I'll add more as more arrive.

My favorite, thus far, is the Princess of Morocco's gown.
Modest, yet elegant and unique.

Which for today makes it perfect. It's Her Majesty's day after all and all of the attention should be on her. Not on Kate.

Great gallery of pictures over at Getty...

I really like this one...

When it's styled properly, Charlene's new do really suits her. It's when she leaves it straight that it does nothing for her.

In other Royal news/events...Norway celebrated it's National Day earlier this week and the Crown Prince Family was out in force for the events near their home.

Wow Ingrid Alexandra is really starting to look like her Dad. Speaking of Her little Royal Highness, this has to be my favourite picture out of that series...

Also don't forget that we have two Royal Christenings this weekend. Little Estelle of Sweden's on Monday and also the little Princess of Denmark on Sunday. IMO, I'm more excited for the little Princess of Denmark's Christening, as we'll finally find out what her names are.

Got my fingers crossed for a full out bling Dinner tonight, but as it's the British Royals hosting...Here's hoping!!

I vote for Princess Lalla as the best dressed at dinner. Queen Rania in second.

:scream: Queen of Swaziland

Agree, with all the above.

I think people give very little consideration to the many rules and restrictions both written and unwritten that determine Kate's wardrobe choices.

Catherine's dome a wonderful job of navigating the challenges of "royal wardrobe protocol", IMO.

I think so, too. What I mean is that she gets criticized for her choices in ways that indicate people are not really considering protocol. I've seen people irritated that she doesn't show enough skin for example. Or like today's dress being pronounced (elsewhere) too "dull" and "safe". When at an event like today, it is an absolute necessity for her to not be flashy and stick with "safe".

Safe doesn't have to be dull. The original version of the pink dress without the pleats was equally safe but more elegant.

And it's not like someone wearing a screaming-red dress with an obvious zip front can argue they were attempting to maintain a low profile.

Clearly, he was kidding, and pretty good for a 91-year-old man who had a heart procedure last winter. And it's not like it's Bill Clinton or a Kennedy where there's some genuine concern he might actually do it...

Oh Yes, when he was younger there was very much a chance he might do it!:D

As for new pictures, I'm not coming up with very many. Just 2 in fact. And none of the guest of honor, which is strange. So either not everyone showed up, or the pictures just aren't online yet. But I did hear that the Cambridges, Prince Harry and the York princesses wouldn't attend the dinner.
