Sophie's been out and about on Engagements this past week...

NOTW Online ~ When Giovanni Met Sophie ~ Livery Dinner With The Countess of Wessex (http://newsoftheworldonline.eu/feed-categories/5183-when-giovanni-met-sophie-livery-dinner-with-the-countess-of-wessex)

Love the dress and I think it's the same one Sophie wore for the Gala Dinner the night of the Monaco Wedding Festivities last summer. For those wondering, that's the Royal Victorian Order sash and order at the bow she's wearing, along w/her Family Order.

And yesterday...

Meanwhile, her other half was meeting up w/a far different kind of a crowd...

That rather uncomfortable photocall led to the Mirror doing this...

Calvin Coolidge could have told Charles about the dangers of war bonnets...just don't do it.

Yes, she was. She was Princess Alice's 4th daughter. And to put in a modern frame of reference, Prince Philip's maternal grandmother was Princess Alice's 1st daughter, Victoria. So Alix was Philip's great-aunt.

That's why, as the last surviving direct descendant of the maternal side of the family, Prince Philip provided the DNA that positively identified the remains of Tsar Nicholas and his family.

Duchess of Cambridge does solo engagement in Liverpool:

She looks so comfortable and relaxed and she clearly loves the kids - and they love her

Thanks for that link Lorac. Kate looked like she was really enjoying herself and also gave the little ones she met at RMHC and the Hospital a real boost too. Oh and...

The duchess also witnessed a performance by the bar's resident choir, the Raucous Caucus Recovery Chorus, comprising those who had previously experienced alcohol problems.

Love the name of the Choir. It's perfect for a choir that's made up of recovering addicts and I'm sure it also gives them a bit of a smile too.

Looking forward to seeing more pictures of Kate's visits today.

Just when I think I can't adore her more ... she's just so natural and effortless, and somehow entirely princess-like at the same time.

Yup, I'm a fan girl. :swoon:

So am I - I think she has so effortlessly slipped into the role it's as if she was born into it. Rumour is the Queen has taken a huge interest in how she is fitting in and has been giving the Duchess of Cambridge some informal (well as informal as the Queen can be) lessons in how to handle herself.

Well...This is perfect timing and follow up to that up there. :D

And loads of more pictures w/the article of Kate's day in Liverpool w/this Daily Mail article...

Daily Mail ~ Kate's happy Valentine's: William may be away in Falklands but there is no shortage of admirers for the Duchess of Cambridge (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2100867/Kate-Middleton-Valentines-Day-trip-Duchess-Cambridge-visit-Liverpool-childrens-hospital.html#)

Just ignore the comments section...Some people really need help or a life or both from some of the venom posted over there about Kate's visit today. Only reason I saw it was due to my computer freezing for a couple of seconds and then catching up w/the Page Down button hits I'd done when it just started. I usually don't read that over there when looking at Royal related articles just because I know what I'll see. Wish my computer had cooperated w/me so I hadn't seen that earlier today too.

Kate also confided in patient Elliot Casey, 12, who has just had an operation for a brain tumour, telling him what her new dog was called – the couple have refused to reveal the name of their pet as it is considered a ‘private matter’.

Elliot said: ‘I said to her 'I hear you've got a dog' and she said 'yes I do, it's a black cocker spaniel' then she told me its name but she told me not to tell anyone.’

 Awww. I hope the kid doesn't squeal.

Oh you all are going to be so jealous of me. My parents are moving and my Great Grandmother was a huge fan of QE and her brother was the Mayor of Cantaberry and she brought me a scrape book of 10 years of clippings from the 40s-50s of QE from local newspapers! When I get a chance I will scan them so you all can see.

Oh, what a treasure you've been given. My Aunt gave me her scrapbook of the then Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh visiting Calgary and of The Queen's Coronation on my 18th Birthday. None of her children/my cousins are interested in the Royals and she waited until then to give it to me to make sure my interest wasn't just a Teen Phase I was going through. It's one of my more cherished pieces of my Royal Collection.

Came back in to add this to my post w/the link to the photos of Kate over at The British Royals...Turns out Kate's going to be performing an engagement to do w/The Art Room next week.

The Prince of Wales ~ Tuesday 21st February 2012 (http://www.princeofwales.gov.uk/diary/tuesday_21st_february_2012_1163804370.html)

She'll be visiting two schools in the Oxford area where The Art Room is running programs at, as well as taking part in a round table discussion w/parents, staff and Art Room workers.
